Charlie is calm until we have company over, then she goes nuts!

Two days ago my babies were hyperactive, so I took them for a short walk. When we came back they slept for about 15 minutes and then they were hyperactive again.
Yesterday evening I happened to have some boxes to open and arrange some things.
They were hyperactive but by the time I started opening those carton boxes they were bewitched! They were observing everything, then I took some carton pieces, rapped them with some tape and I let them play with them. After half an hour of playtime they went to sleep until today morning.
I think that many Yorkies need mental exercise more than physical.
Now I'm looking to buy some mental toys to keep them busy.

I think you are right they need mental stimulation. Bella is a true blonde though. No offense to blondes but legally blonde blonde. She's pretty schitzo most of the time. LOL. Love her, but thank heavens we have our time outs in her crate where she settles down and naps. :D

don't feel bad my guy is in his crate to sleep! I can't sleep with him in my bed, he would go right to sleep no problem, but he is like a cat and has to be up around my neck! and I can't sleep that way! we bring him in the bed alot to watch tv when he falls asleep I carry him off to his bed! Mine in general is overall calm, he is 10 months old but he has his moments where he gets that running in circles around the coffee table or out of the bedroom down the long hallway, lots of walks and playtime is what I recommend...good luck enjoy! we are entertained daily, the new favorite is a empty soda bottle with treats in it ha ha!!! so funny to watch him.

When do they calm down? I don't know, I'm still waiting with my 6yr old, 3 yr old, and 6mth old, LOL :D!

No really, they do calm a bit after the first year or so (in my experience)...and then you see some other parts of their personality emerge, which is fun (little quirks). But, my furs also have a ton energy and are ready to play at any time - just say the word.

My pup is 3 and is calm and sleeps a lot, but still has the energy to play and get into trouble. lol

We go to the park in the morning for a walk and play ball a few times a day and she attacks her bear and drags him around the house in the evening to get rid of some of her energy before bedtime. She does sleep a lot during the day and then wakes up eats plays a bit, goes back to sleep and does it all over again. :)

It seem that the minute Pixie wakes up it is playtime and it can be non stop. Pixie is almost 2 and is still very active. I thought this is normal to be active.
