I just looked at what I posted. Sorry, misspelled several words:rolleyes: |
My vets in Williamson County are fine giving the three year. Could you travel to a nearby county that allows the 3 year vaccine? |

why would they create a 3 year rabies vaccine if it's against the law? As long as you dog has it's vaccinations up to date I don't see why not. That sounds like doggie doo to me |

why not shop around for another vet and ask them |

I live in one county and the vet is in the next county over. I do not care for the vets in my county. Out of curiousity I am going to call the vet in my county and see what they say. |

I finally got a chance to call other vet offices in some of the counties near where I live. I called 4 vets and they said 1 yr. rabie shot yearly. One of them said it varies from county to county. So, I called the vet in my county and they said they do it every 3 years. I don't go the vet in my county because I like the one I am going to, but its in a county that requires it yearly. Unless I change my mind I am having it done every three years. |
Hmm, the three year is fine if your county accepts it even if it's done by a vet in another county, but that vet in the other county isn't going to carry the three year vaccine, so not sure how you can go there and get the one you want. :( |

There are one year shots and three year shots. The vet can only sign off on a three year if they gave a three year. To complicate matters further, at least one company sells the one year and three year under different names, but it's the same vaccine (Defensor 1 and 3). This satisfies different states' requirements... |
Okay, now I see. Thanks. So basically I need to stay with the vet I am comfortable with or go to the vet in my county for the rabie shot. That would be sorta tacky if I did that being I don't go there. |
