Yorkie or Morkie? I bought two puppies from the same breeder about a month apart. The first is all yorkie. The second I think is a morkie in spite of his papers. The second puppy is larger, his hair is much wavier, his snout is longer and narrower, his legs are longer especially his back legs, his chest is triangular and narrows in the front not boxy, he's gray and white with no beige, his ears are floppy, and his personality is much different. He's a total lapdog. Unlike the first dog who is hyper and fiesty, he's laidback and loveydovey. We love them equally. We wouldn't change a thing. It's cool having two opposite dogs. They complement each other. But I am suspicious about the authenticity of his paperwork. The breeder we got them from also raised Maltese. When I bought the first pup, the mother and father yorkies were on premises. I got to pick from several puppies. The next time I went, there was only one puppy, and the parents were not introduced. I suspect I was duped. Is there any way to tell for sure? I wouldn't do a thing about it. I am not planning on breeding him anyway. But, I would do some reading about maltese to see if I should do anything differently as a pet owner. I am not able to post pics for whatever reason, but this morkie looks identical to mine. You could always pop for the DNA testing if you really feel you need to know. What has your vet said about your pup? That said, if she did sell you a mixed breed as a purebred, I would at the very least report her to which ever agency she is registering her dogs with. |
I doubt we'll go that far. I strongly suspect it though. He's healthy and cute and has a super personality, so it's fine. I just wish there was a cheaper way to know for my own peace of mind. |
The vet said... he's beautiful and wants him to be in the parade on her float. He really is pretty. lol |
The photo of the dog you just posted looks like my dog, who is a morkie. Here also is Piper a YT member's morkie puppy http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-hair-cut.html You really can't tell my looks alone so a DNA test is your best answer. |
Yes he does. In fact it was a picture of Cooper when we did a google image search that exacerbated our initial suspicion. The biggest difference in our boys to me is the coat. The fluffy, curly white hair on his head and face is very different. |
I have a maltipoo and that adorable face is verrry familiar. You could always do the DNA test and if it is a fact, blackmail the breeder. If she doesn't cough up a refund you'll turn her in. That is a fraud she is committing... criminal act. Then you can use the money to buy doggie clothes and toys and all kinds of cool stuff, right here on YT from YT vendors..... just sayin'.....LOL |
The pup you linked to looks just like my Piper did before her haircut. She is a 15 week old Maltese/Yorkie mix. |
I bought him for my GF. Her mom called the breeder, and he vehemently asserts he can prove the parentage. Still, I think one of his maltese got with the mother. How much is a DNA test usually? I paid 500 dollars for him. |
DNA test ... it works and worth it it only takes 3 weeks and u will know |

Yeah... I was just wondering. People who see our babies together always assume they are different breeds. lol They are both very pretty though. I just think it's dirty if the breeder deliberately deceived us. |

BioPet DNA Dog Breed Identification Test - Gifts for Dog Lovers - Dog - PetSmart a link to one you can buy online or instore, for 59.99 you can also get more precise ones for 150.00 but this one tells what breeds are in your dog.... |
I don't know if this is true, but I heard that one indication of a Morkie is they have brown fur under the top fur of their ears. I have two Morkies and they both have that. I would do a DNA test to find out for sure. |
Also, can't a dog get pregnant by more than one male?? Might it be possible that two different dogs fathered that litter without the breeder knowing? |
