All FLORIDA PEOPLE CHECK IN I posted this here because I want to hear from all of our Florida members if they have access.....Are you all OK ? We've been watching Wilma and it is was REALLY hitting the West side....I hope everyone made it thru this mama of a storm ok !!! |
|
I heard power is out in about 1/3 of the state. I'm still waiting to hear from my uncle in Boca Raton. |
|
I just heard SIX Million are without power - I wonder how all our Fla members are doing - at least it's not 100 degrees like it was in LA and TX during the other bad storms - they DO have that in their favor but I hope everyone is OK !!! |

I am in Florida but Lucky this time as I live in the panhandle ( north west part) of Florida but all my relatives ( daughter, sisters etc ) are in the Tampa area and they are fine. My thoughts are with those further south and across the state. I have not been able to reach the Yorkiepark breeder yet that I picked up my new baby Eli from on Saturday. Hope she and all her beautiful dogs are ok. If anyone else hears from her please let me know. My prayers are with all the rest of you spread out in Florida and please let us hear from you as soon as possible ( or when you get power back). |

I agree !! There are many people without power - but how bad is the flooding really ? Did you get any ? on another note - I saw Yorkieparks website - their yorkies are gorgeous - I'd love to see pictures of yours - and I hope they're all safe too !!! I know the devestation wasn't as bad as Katrina and Rita - but ANY flooding and loss of power is a big deal and I also hope everyone is ok..... |
|
We're here and doing fine. All we got was some wind and rain, and now we're enjoying the cold weather. |

I haven't been on in a few days, not because of Wilma, because I've just been so busy. In NE Fl we just got a day of rain and some welcome wind. But, I just noticed, my son in law put my Chloe and Lacey's pictures on the site for me. At last, you can see my girls. |
|
Where are you, Yorkie Rose?? Hey, Pat. Check in with us as soon as you can.. |

They are under my name in the reply. Haven't figured out how to do anything else. He's going to help me. You can't see them? |

We're fine here but we're in Ocala so we were north of any damage. The most we got was some wind and rain. We're in the area most people evacuate to so the restaurants and stores were really crowded. I hope everyone south of us is o.k. Villette...I almost made meatloaf but it just didn't seem bad enough for that ;) |

 Native Ocalean Quote:
Hi there in Ocala. Guess what?!!! I was born in McIntosh and grew up in Ocala. My family on all sides have been native from that area. Run into any Lyles, Knoblock, Nettles, McEwen, Hooker, Shealy, etc.etc.etc...we are probably related :) |
|
I am gonna try again in the morning.. Pat actually has a daughter who has a "block house" that they can go to if the winds and rain gets too bad..... |
|
hey, i live in central FL, school was cancelled here but it shouldn't have been, nothing really happened to us besides some rain and wind thankfully. |

According to the St. Pete Times this morning there are still several south Florida counties that have 76 to 100% of their residents without power. Those counties are: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee, Glades, Hendry, Collier and Monroe. Lee county has 51 to 75% with no power and it looks like Charlotte, De Soto, Highlands, Manatee and Sarasota have 26 to 50% with no power. So, if any of our members are in those counties we might not hear from them for a few days but I'm sure they'll get things under control soon. I can list some of the towns in those counties if anyone wants to know what they are. |

My mom lives in Naples but she flew home to Ohio before the storm hit. She has heard that her house sustained serious damage but has not seen it for herself. The roof blew off 1/2 the house and an interior wall collapsed according to the managers in her community. She is worried sick about it but is also glad she is safe. I just dread the thought of her having to deal with this. Prayers to all who have been hard hit by this hurricane season. |
|
Floridian here, but I'm lucky to be in the northern part (Jacksonville). Everything is fine here. I hope everyone is okay on the south side! |
