Everyone: can we TURN UP the COMPASSION here? I don’t know the right way to say this, so I’ll just say it plainly… I'm hoping everyone on this board can stop and consider whether it is possible for them to be more compassionate to their fellow members. You don’t have to love everyone. You don’t have to like everyone. You don’t have to like anyone, for that matter. But we do ask that you be respectful…that you try to be compassionate. None of us have walked in anyone else’s shoes but our own, as far as I know. So until one of us has that capability, let’s not pretend we are overly fit to judge. Words hurt people. Insinuations can hurt just as much as words. Before you post something…think of how you would feel if it was posted to YOU. We don’t have to gush over each other (although it is welcome :)), we don’t have to be fakey-nicey. You don’t have to be a Pollyanna. But please, do remember that every action, kind or otherwise, has consequences – in some way or another. Thanks for reading this and for making YT such a wonderful place! :) |
Oh yea i am with you Ann  |
I will work on it. I am as compassionate as the next person, but it does not take a lot to get me fired up. Will work on it Ann. |
Wonderful post Ann. Sometimes we forget how unkind we can come off and how it can hurt people. We should all think before we speak and if it is not possible to say what we feel in a way that is not hurtful, we probably shouldn't say it. Thanks for the reminder. :) |
Sorry Ann. |
Great post Ann! Sometimes I know I let things really get the best of me on YT, will try to improve!:) |
Ann...this is a great post. There is absolutely no reason for someone to shoot another down just because they don't agree...whether it's the technique used...the pups age...or anything else for that matter. Many of us are new yorkie owners and only come on here to gain insight and get advice from 'seasoned' yorkie owners...but it's sad to say that some have been treated wrongly and have given up the message boards to go it alone because they were bashed for one thing or another. If I weren't intent on training Zoe right I would have left this board already. I am thankful there are people like you who still have compassion....My dictionary says it's a "strong desire to alleviate the suffering"...not the desire to add to it. Now that I've said my piece "I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!! Hope you have a good day!! |
Forgot to add that I love your quote. |

:thumbup:I have not posted a thread in a very long time.. due to this and post very little even tho I am online.. So this is a good tread to see...some one seems to ask for help and too many people seem to think they have something better to offer and then the thread goes wild.. I have said it before.. we all have faults!!! the only difference is our faults differ from the other person.. Posted on a teen town door on a military base.. |
Nice to know someone is one top of the fact that words hurt and that "Sticks and Stones" yeah right. Hopefully everyone active will read this and know! |
A mature person is one who does not think only in absolutes, who is able to be objective even when deeply stirred emotionally, who has learned that there is both good and bad in all people and in all things, and who walks humbly and deals charitably with the circumstances of life, knowing that in this world no one is all knowing and therefore all of us need both love and charity. LOVE this thread! |
