New Here...HELP pls Ok well I have been wanting a Yorkie for the longest time, so today I get off work to see my husband standing at my car grinning from ear to ear like a little boy. Holding in his hands a Yorkie puppy in a basket. Now she is the cutest little thing in the world, blah blah all the happy happy joy joy stuff. He tell me that he found her online has been "sneaking and looking" for awhile now and came across a man who had a litter of puppy and that he had been to see them a few times. So long story short after getting tiny No Name home I notice she is wobbly, kind of playful but sleepy. My husband informs me that the breeder said she vet to the vet and got her puppy shot yesterday so she may be a little sleepy. So OK still no big issue, so I am laying on the couch playing with No Name and she starts biting on my ear lobe..... SHE HAS NO TEETH!!! Like I can start to see them growing or coming in but they are barley popping out of her gums!! The man said she is 10 weeks old but that can not be possible as again she has no teeth!! I have called him from my cell, my husbands cell, blocked, emailed him nothing.... |
it sounds like your baby is MUCh younger then you think she might be wobbly because her sugar is low do you have any karo syrup handy? if not GET SOME NOW! when you local pet store opens tomorrow go and get some nutrical and give her the amount it says on the tube please watch her carefully because if shes hypoglycemic she could die send hubby to walmart to get Karo syrup |
i would get her to your vet as soon as you can get her checked your vet will be able to tell you better her age if shes so young i have no idea why she was given shots! |
I found a site that said to mix goats milk, kayro syrup, yogurt and egg white so I am doing that. It was one more then 1 site for a home milk mixture. She is doing ok I am just so upset and angry and found this site in my search for help. He didnt have to lie about her age, I was not looking for a smaller size dog and I would have waited. Infact I was telling my husband i thought she was going to be very small as a adult and it scared me. I am happy she will be a bigger adult but now scared because I know she is much younger. |
Not kidding when she says NOW like as in 2 hrs ago , on that kero. |
Honestly if I were you I would march that puppy rite back to where you got her and MAKE that breeder keep her at least another 2 weeks. And when you get there give him a good SMACK in his head. |
ive never heard of egg white and yogurt but half goats milk half water with a little bit a karo it dosent take to much and you can " over dose " them its the crash when them come down off the sugar high thats the issue im sure we have a milk recipe here somewhere let me see what i can do |
Many unscrupulous breeders will say a pup is much older than it really is to give the impression it will be very small as an adult. You are right to be upset. Since the "breeder" will not answer the phone, it is now up to you to keep this baby well and alive. goats milk is closest to momma's milk. Take her to the vet and see how old the vet can estimate her age at. I do not know how old pups are when their baby teeth break through. I just know they start to lose their baby teeth and get their adult teeth at about 6 months. Unfortunetly, pups taken away from their momma this early most often than not develop behavioral problems that now you must deal with and train her out of. Biting/mouthing is one of the most common. |

I have given her goats milk and karo. I have dealt with puppies and kittnes before so this is not new to me just a little rusty I guess. I just cant see how people can be so horrible and untruthful for no reason. Thank you all for helping and listening to me vent. |
the no teeth part worrys the daylights outta me there milk teeth come in when there REALLY young shes gotta be just a few weeks old |
Did she come with any paperwork ? that may have her birth date on it. Not that it is acurate but it's possible. |
Does she seem less wobbley yet ? |

1 Attachment(s) She has some teeth, sorry guess I worded that badly. She has her K9s and her teeth and just barley out of her gums. She came with some American Pet Reg. stuff but that says that she was born on April 11th. She is not wobbly anymore she is in face running and chasing my hans along the key board. And playing with her blanket. |

Her back molars have not broken threw yet. |
We need more pics so we can see what she looks like ( Please);) |
thank goodness she has teeth, i was thinking gummy smiles for a while! Also full body pics can help. Seeing how long the fur is, we can guesstimate the age. |

Have any of you "taped ears"?? I guess to help them stand up:aimeeyork |
Welcome to YT. "No Name" is adorable, I glad to hear she's doing well.:) |
I'm going to be blunt here. Taping her ears should be the least of your worries right now. I say this because I am going through something similar with a rescue pup who is most likely younger than her "paperwork" says. You've already had one hypoglycemic episode. You are going to need to be on guard against another. If she's truly 10 weeks, a goats milk formula is ok in a pinch, but it certainly isn't enough to keep her healthy. Having only a few teeth could make it difficult finding a food she can easily eat, be prepared. Get her to the vet ASAP for a checkup. A "breeder" who won't answer your calls now could very easily be hidin something else from you. You need to know what you may be in for. Don't wait until this weekend or even tomorrow. Go today. Once you know she's healthy and is eating, peeing and pooping as she should THEN you can worry about taping her ears. |

And yes, I'm grumpy because I'm going on day 4 of round the clock feeding/peeing/pooping/napping on the floor beside the crate vigil. Sorry. |
I don't know this little one doesn't look much younger than mine did at 9 weeks old... maybe she is 8 weeks old... but I don't think she is as young as your thinking. You still have to be very careful to make sure she eats well and you keep an eye on her as often as possible though. I would also get her to the vet as soon as possible, and bring a stool sample if you can get one. Since you dont know much about the breeder, you want to make sure she didnt come with any type of parasites and if she did you can handle it quickly. The vet will also be able to give you a better indication of her age and overall health. As for the ears, to get them to stand up you need to keep them shaved, the extra weight of the hair can pull them down. Also it helps if you massage them often when she is laying next to you. Likely they will go up and down a few times while she is teething. Many people never have to tape them, but some people do end up doing it. You can find websites online that show you how, but I don't think its something you need to do right now. Good Luck with her. |
