Decisions Hello everyone, * i prefer a small dog, and a good deal! They are all around the same price though. So like I have said before, I am getting a Yorkie in approx. a week. I'm going to call him Yorkie #1. Yorkie #1: the first litter of mom and dad Yorkies No health guarrentee Doesn't come with any package or anything Wants to meet in a lot of a public restaurant, nothing against that, but I'd like to see where they are raised. Even if i couldn't get out there, they didn't offer to meet there, so I'm not sure. Papers NO health guarantee Yorkie #2 I got an offer (someone on here!) Offer to meet there at their house care package Health guarantee Papers Yorkie #3, someone else... Small, 3 pounds at 3 months...cute as ever!!! Comes with clothes, pee pads, and blankets. Doesn't come with papers, because they bought from a breeder, and wanted to save money. The dog is pee pad trained, they said, and had to give her up because of money issues. |
I thought you already got a Yorkie? |
Nope, one week. Just preparing for one! |

Yorkie#1 would be a definite no for me. If I could not go to their house that sounds like they hiding something. I wish you well with your decision:) |
Nope, i havent gotten him yet. Whichever one I do get, will be in approx a week though. |
i would go for # 2 or 3. def not #1. they sound to shaddy |
Thanks to both of you! I think I'm going with 2...I THINK. Do the papers of a dog mean anything? Since the Yorkie is purely for my companionship? No breeding or anything like that. And i'll have him/her forever... |
MINOR correction to my first post: The third dog, the one that is two pounds, is almost 5 months old. A little taller than a plastic water bottle right now. She has the receipt for the breeder and health records, also. |
Personally to me they don't. I know mine are yorkies. I don't breed. They are just my babies:) |
#3 was sold to someone else. So that leaves me with one and two. I think I am going with 2. |
Just keep in mind those little ones require a little more care. I have heard they can have health issues. I have 2 boys 1 girl. Daisy is 3lbs. she will be 2 in Dec. The boys are 7 and 9 lbs. Daisy is the healthiest. Never had an issue with her. I just have to watch her more. |
From your descption, cet. par., with #3 being out (and that would have been my choice due to the age, the look, the situation with the owners, and the pee pad training), then No 2 is the obvious choice. Good luck, and remember that if you take care of your pet, the acquision cost is a small portion of the Total Ownership Cost. :aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I would say NO to #1 Unless they are willing to let you come and see where the pups were raised, instead of the parking lot..If they will not agree to let you see where they were raised, Then there is probably a reason for that. and you most likely would not like what you would see anyways..#2 sounds more legit, I would go check out that one. Oh by the way where are you in Pa..Im in Pa too..near Pittsburgh. |
I would go for 2. This reminds me of that show where people buy the houses lol. |
I think #2 or #3 would be your best choices. When I got my yorkie we meet the guy at a McDonalds parking lot and this was before I knew about puppy mills. It ended up after learning about puppy mills and researching where I got Callie (my yorkie) that she came from a puppy mill. |
Number 2 sounds like your best bet to me...just definitely not number 1. Do you know anything about number 3's breeder? And I agree, seems like a house-buying show!! :) |

I say none of the above. Just because someone contacted you here doesn't not mean they are reputable. We have a lot of members who lurk behind the scenes just waiting to pounce on someone asking about puppies. There are some great threads pinned at the top of the Yorkies For Sale section that will help you find a puppy from a reputable breeder. I agree with the above. Find a reputable breeder. |

If a person wants to sell the dog out of a parking lot, I'd wonder if the pup was stolen. |

Also, OP, if you haven't researched the breeder that is choice #2, DO NOT BUY! It doesn't matter that they are a YT member. When you acquire a puppy, you buy your breeder first. You want someone that will stand by you for the next 15 years. |
To your question as to whether papers matter for a companion dog:I've had both and honestly loved them all equally. Some may disagree with me here, but papers don't mean squat if you've teamed up with a less than stellar breeder. Without knowing the details of how you came in contact w/ #2, it does seem strange to have them contact you to sell a yorkie. Just a thought, but if you decide papers aren't essential in your search then you may want to consider a rescued pup. You could be saving 2 lives and still have a fantastic companion. |

when i went to PA for my first yorkie there were three people already there looking at puppies. they had the puppies in 2 large extended playpens linked together in their garage. their house from the outside was nice, they had a pond in their front yard and a big back yard but i still asked to see where the puppies were whelped and where they lived. they had the dam walking around the garage who was friendly and trying to play with everyone who came in the door but i still asked about the sire. don't be afraid to ask questions, even if it may sound a little imposing. |
You definitely buy your breeder first. It took me a month to find my baby Zach. Lola was a rehome and never stayed in contact with the lady I got her from. With Zach I am constantly emailing with the breeder still and she is so wonderful! I found her on YT and she has been so great and honest about everything. I couldn't be happier with Zach and he truly is a blessing! I wouldn't even be considering someone who wanted to meet me some where, really fishy! |
