There are many good Biewer breeders here on YT. I invite you to look at my website and my club's (Biewer Breeder's Club of America--BBCA) and their registery (Biewer Breeder's International Registery--BBIR) as well as their Canadian counterparts. When you look at only one breeder or one club, all you get is one opinion. That is not research, that is just an opinion. |

I have to respectfully disagree with this post.. anyone who knows me knows that I although I TOTALLY disagree with the BTCA, what they stand for and what they have done to dismantle the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier here in this country.. the dogs on this mans website are gorgeous.. they are exactly what Biewer Yorkshire Terriers are supposed to look like! They are SUPPOSED to look like yorkies.. they ARE yorkies.. they are a tri colored yorkie, nothing more.. they are to have the same structure, ear set, size, muzzle, head.. everything but the color of a yorkie and this mans dogs have that. The little male he has on there is stunning, I haven't seen many nicer males in a long while. (granted, it's only a photo.. but he looks wonderful). There is no such thing as a Yorkie/ Biewer cross.. a yorkie/Biewer cross is called a Biewer.. or a Yorkie... Read the Biewer standard, his dogs would fit it perfectly. If you look at the dogs he has, they come from the very same lines that most of us have.. they are the same exact lines, same breeders.. same dogs.. NO different! These come from lines of pure bred Biewer Yorkies.. and the ones I saw on his site look like it.. no need to claim these are a mix of anything. Also, as far as I know, there is no one accredited Biewer Club in the states, just like there is no one accredited Biewer club in Germany.. I agree with you that the BBCA is probably the best club in the states at the present time, but they are no more accredited than the other clubs. Don't want to ruffle feathers but also, I don't want misinformation out there.. there is enough of that already. If I am wrong on this accreditation, please correct me somebody.. Thanks Diana :animal-pa |
Dust, what section should I post about Carlo in. He thinks he is a Yorkie, but he does not fit the standard, and is quite a bit larger. |

I think maybe part of the issue was with the fact that the OP made a few mistatements regarding Biewers and therefore some of the more knowledgeable members stepped in correct or further explain. Like it has been stated, many have never heard of a Biewer until they join YT, so shouldn't mistakes be corrected and more information regarding the dogs be offered? What you fail to see, as a new member, is that what you view as a "something so simple" is something that many people feel very passionately about and that has been the topic of controversy for years now...with good reason. There are issues and confusion surrounding the breeds, clubs, origins, etc that extend back waaaaay beyond your Mar 2010 join date. Having been witness to that and the progression over this breed gives one a better understanding of why its not 'something so simple' to everyone. |
So my question is, can we post Biewer pics and talk about them on YT or not. |
Biewer Yorkie vs Biewer Terrier What is the difference in a Biewer Yorkshire Terrier and a Biewer Terrier? Thanks. Darby |

Of course their are times I will and have been wrong but for you to disregard what I say simply because I haven't been apart of YT since it started is alittle. . . Its just this post wasn't meant to argue on whether they are two sepreate breeds (as I just learned they are myself), so why take someone elses post and make it that way. |

Nothing to do with what you know about the breed, more like understanding the controversy that has surrounded Biewers on this board for years now. Something that can't be understood unless you have been here for years to watch the evolution of the subject. THAT was what I was trying to explain--that it's a very sensitive subject here, which is why some people are so adamate about making their point when it comes up. I wasn't trying to disregard what you said, just trying to point out that this 'issue' has a history that started way before you joined. |

It just seemed like that was what was mean't to be said, but I see your point and I do understand now  |

1. Biewer Yorkshire Ala Pom Pon 2. Biewer 3. Biewer Terrier Those who own and breed the original "Biewer Yorkshire Ala Pom Pon's" still believe the Biewer to be a tri yorkie. Those who own and breed "Biewers" believe they began as tri yorkies...but believed they have "evolved" into their own breed. I have heard they now consider their dogs "yorkie cousins". Those who own and breed "Biewer Terriers" at first believed they were tri yorkies as well, but then said they were mixed with other breeds somewhere along the line. But now claim they evolved into a distinct breed of its own. It seems the dogs began to miraculously evolve into new breeds after some clubs realized they would never gain AKC status as a tri yorkie. They needed to become a new breed. Personally I can't understand how a new breed can evolve from a well establish breed such as the yorkie in such a short time frame...with or without the mixing of other breeds into it. But then again...I am no scientist or geneticist and have no idea if this is even possible. JMO. |
