Is it too soon to bring another one home? Ok, I've definitely caught yorkie fever. Rhett's 20 weeks now and just a bundle of joy. But I want a little girl, too. My dh is out of state this week. There is a 10 week old female yorkie at a rescue in the area he's at. Would I be a fool to tell him to bring her with him? Should I wait until Rhett is older? Would bringing another puppy in make him less likely to keep bonding with us? |
A puppy that young is rare in a rescue. Are you certain this is a reputable rescue? Some BYB'rs and brokers often pose as rescues as a way of moving their "stock" more quickly. What's the name of the rescue? If you're comfortable that it is a good rescue group, then no, I don't think it's too early to bring another home. My Becca was only 6 months younger than Alexander and they were inseparable for more than 11 years and were both extremely bonded to me. You need to think about whether you have the time and the money to have 2 dogs right now - they take a lot of both. :) |
This is her. Do you know anything about this rescue? Adoptable Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie: Allie: Petfinder |
I don't think it is too soon. I have a 6 month old Pomeranian and a 4 month old yorkie. They really love having each other as a Playmate. |

I have to say, this little girl is CUTE! I can see why you want to bring her home. :) |
I just looked at link you provided. Cute little puppy! |

I like that she's going to be a bigger girl. I need someone who can give Rhett a run for his money. |

Is Rhett mixed or a pure Yorkie? Since you don't know what these puppies are mixed with, you won't have any idea how big they will grow to be OR what they will look like later. Their mom is 12lbs and that is a big Yorkie too. I know for me I would want my two to be about the same size and look like a Yorkie full grown. |

LOL! :D a Porkie Yorkie! That's too cute! |
He is adorable :) I'm sorry but I don't know anything about them either. There is a process of adopting so it might to be as easy as you think to bring him home. Nothing wrong with a bigger mix~I have 2 myself and love them to death :D They are all in the HUGE 11-12 lb range ;) Good luck if you decided to give it a shot at adopting. :) |
I am totally uncomfortable with a rescue that adopts puppies out at such a young age. In looking at their "website" I see that they are aligned with: Rescue Alliance of Hairless & Other Breeds, Inc :: Home That is apparently someone who has decided to represent independent rescuers...I don't have the time right now to totally look over their site, but it just seems that the way this is done, there is no one minding the store so to speak. While these people who have these puppies may be well intentioned, I don't get releasing puppies at that age! I shudder to think what will happen to them later...we never release a pup until it is altered. |
