My pup is not usually a snuggler - unless I am upset/crying! He sits close to me and licks me and stays by me until I am feeling better. He does it to an extent when if "fake cry" too. I think it just makes him super curious. He is pretty much over snuggling with fake crying in about five seconds...:) |
Duke is the same way, he would come and lick my face or sits next to me if i'm crying. Also, when i'm sick or just not feeling well, he'll be less hyper and more cuddly. They are just too cute and understanding :) |
Kobe is cuddly all the time but he does know when I'm upset and sad. He's licked tears away a number of times. DH is military and currently away at training, I'm scared to death of thunder and usually end up tucked under DH. Kobe knows he isn't home and jumped in the bed, got as close to me as he could, licked my face and gave me the "mommy its ok go to sleep now look". I don't know what I'd do without him, my kids sleep through everything they're no help...LOL |
A couple of years ago my father passed away suddenly after routine outpatient surgery, My aunt was keeping his YorkiePoo Libby while he had surgery. Libby was fine and all of a sudden she went under the bed and started to whine. She could not be coaxed to come out...even with bits of hotdog. She was under there for about an hour when the phone rang, Me calling to report that sadly, unexpectedly that my dad had died after approximately 58 minutes of trying to re-start his heart. One year to the day later Libby passed away also. She never got over it, was never the same. This still gives me the shivers. I am crying as i write this! I know in my heart that Heaven allows dogs in! If not i do not want to go! |
Now I'm getting jealous! Does anyone know where I can take Kaji to sensitivity training? :p |

both my dogs know when I am upset or aren't feeling well. When I am sick Pixie will crawl under my chin and keep licking my face sometimes I am like enough already I am going to live. I guess if I didn't have all that love Id be lost:D Daisy just tends to stay by my side and when she knows I am sad she wil kiss me and sigh a lot. I too try not to get sad or cry over things bc they are so tuned into it. gotta love the doggie unconditional love;) |
My Boo Boo is always the first one there for me when something is wrong. The second I start to get upset or anxious he jumps into my arms and scurries up to my collarbone and curls up there, nuzzling my neck. If I'm crying he is licking my tears away, and if i'm in a happy mood he is dancing around by my feet. He really is the best person I know. |
Maddie is very "in tune" with my emotions. She seems to take on the mood I am in. Given, she is always up for a nap, she ALWAYS lays with me if I am not feeling well. Just last night we watched that movie Up, omgish I cried so hard. (Saddest movie I've watched in a long time.) My husband was laying in our bed just trying to console me and Maddie came and wiggled in right between our chests and started licking my face. Now, I think Cooper would just lick my tears b/c they're salty. :p |
My husband passed away suddenly a year and a half ago at age 47. We live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. When I got home after being at an out of town hospital with him for 4 days, my Maddie never left my lap. She is the type that barks when someone walks past the window facing the street and runs to the door everytime the doorbell rings. She also runs to greet anyone that walks in our house. During this time, she never left my lap. I have many, many, people coming to the house to offer condolences, bring food, etc. She never moved off my lap or barked at anyone or anything. The only time she would move would be if someone walked behind the chair I was sitting in, then she would jump up to the back of the chair and stand there as if she were protecting me, but not acting aggressive. I have two teenage daughters still living at home. At night, my Maddie will rarely bark. It takes a thunderstorm or really loud noise to get her to react. However, if the girls are gone at night and just she and I at home, it seems she hears every little noise all night long. I don't know if she is protecting me, or if she thinks I can't protect her!!! |
