Milly is definitely a 1-person dog. She will be friendly to other people and greet them, play with them and even sit on their lap, but if I get up and leave the room, she will always follow me (even to the bathroom, where she will just sit outside guarding the bathroom door). My sister stayed with me recently and Milly was sitting on her lap having a tummy rub after getting to know her a bit. She joked that "she's my dog now", so I replied, "Oh, really?", got up, left the room, and of course, Milly came pattering after me. Poor sis :D |
My little "Princess" is definitely a Mommy's girl! She loves her Daddy too of course. LOL!!! |
Will my yorkie attach to only me! hi im getting a 7 week old yorkie and I want a dog that will attach to me only so I wanted to know will my yorkie attach to me if im the only care taker of her and I have had a shih tzuh but she attached to my grandmother so I wanted this dog to only be mine.#any tips on how to attach her to me |
I dont know if they are one person kind of dogs, but my little guy loves everyone. He will sit on anyones lap. He loves my husband and my son, although he does prefer me more. Probably because I feed and care for him? I just love his personality, very outgoing..will be great for when we get to start showing. He is almost a year old, and we are growing out his coat :) |
Oscar loves daddy but he is most definetly a "mamas boy".... |
Cozy is a "mama's girl" but will settle for someone else if she has too. Buddy is a "mama's boy" and won't settle for anyone else. Lucy is a "daddy's girl" but will settle for someone else. Roxy doesn't play favorites. |
Mine are both "Mommy's Baby...Daddy's Buddy"...lol We went to leave home with them on Thursday night, they were dressed in their clothes, Daddy went out to the Jeep to get everything ready and the back door was wide open. Mommy was still in the house, though, getting a sample of dog food ready to take to the pup they were going to get to play with while Mommy and Daddy took care of the 'issue' there, and both Brody (mostly) and Mia would go out onto the deck for a few minutes, but would come running back inside and into the other room to me, orbiting and watching me for their cues, and didn't leave the house or the back deck until Mommy did! When we got to the driveway, I put them down to do tinkies before the ride and Daddy called them to the Jeep. Mommy called them AGAIN to do tinkies  and they came running, tinkied, then orbited dancing around me same as they were doing in the house. Then I (Mommy) told them to "go to the truck" and off they ran to be picked up and put inside. I followed them, picked them up and put them in the Jeep, told them "heads back"...they moved back and I shut the gate. I do all their grooming and bathing, play with them, hold them, dress them, etc. Daddy plays with them and they go to him to lap sit and get bits of whatever he's eating, but they typically follow me, sleep with me and sit with me at home...they do cuddle up to Daddy when sleeping also but wake me up for outside. I mostly walk them except Daddy does it after work 'cuz he's home first usually. Daddy and Mommy both feed them, but Mommy shares her water mug with them and gets them their own, fetches their toys, etc., and is the one who's training them. :p They are both 2 years old and were 14 months and 17 months old when we got them...we got them 3 months apart...their birthdays are 6 days apart. Does this help illustrate the attachments mine have...which may not be the same as what you are hoping for? :p It will likely be a wait and see thing to be able to tell where the attachments are with your pup, but, to my way of thinking, since I was the one who permanently attached to them, they are merely responding in kind. Daddy loves them to pieces and this has nothing to do with his 'commitment' to them...which is considerable, but since I was the one who wanted them and have accepted complete responsibility for them of my own accord irrespective of Daddy's intent, they seem to know that and are responding/echoing/mirroring that bond back to me...if that makes any sense. :p:D This is not unusual for me...all of my pets have been Mommy's Babies even when they were DH's before DH met Mommy! :D |
thanks |
I was told, that it is best that a dog only has one master... Corky stick close to my daughter, who is him mom... |
It seams to me it is often the girls who attach to daddy and the boys to mommy. That is the case in our house Remy loves both me and my dh. But.. she is "daddy's girl" . She comes to us both and cuddles with us both, but both of us give her care and play with her. So in your case you will be the main caregiver she will bond with you. Just a thought. Small dogs are better socialized with they can stay with their mom's until about 12 weeks. It is a bit unhealthy to get a pup so young (7 weeks), there are many health and social problems that can occure. Please think about it, maybe you could wait a few weeks? |

:yorkieg:Yes...and I am the flavor of the year! |
Zhoie loves her daddy to pieces.....but when she wants mommy to sit down so she can come to me, she will lock eyes with me and no matter what DH does, she's not breaking eye contact;) Gosh, I love it too:D:thumbup: Definitely a mommy's girl:) |
Tatiana is a one-person dog. I'm her world. My husband loves her, but she doesn't love him back. Tatiana is the quintessential "Mommy's girl." |
chester likes alot of people, but he is a mammas boy since it is just the two of us |
