Well, my three go to work with me every day (I manage a vet clinic) and they are always dressed and usually matched up. If not, the staff tells them they are naked. Most everyone is very complimentary of their outfits. I had one comment last winter from a gentlemen client. The boys were dressed in their pirate fleece from GoFetch and he asked me why they had a coat on. It was very cold and windy out that day. Of course I have to be careful what I say, so, I just looked at him, smiled and nicely asked him why he had a coat on. He could not think of a thing to say back. |
Dressing them up! I dress my two year old Dixie and new baby 13 week old Daisy up in clothes every day. They have always worn clothes. My 21 year old daughters each have a male yorkie and they live with me and the four total have always worn clothes since they were babies. My daughters and I have such a good time buying them things. I even make some clothes which is fun also! I really believe that they know when they have on something new. We always make such a big deal about it telling them how cute they are and handsome also. They just prance about and seem so proud. Having them in clothes also makes it easier to tell four yorkies apart and easier to catch them if they should be running past you about a 100 miles per hour. I have only heard positive comments from others about them being dressed in cute little shirts and dresses. If I were to hear someone making a negative comment I would most likely tell them they are certainly entitled to their own opinion but in the end that is all it is and it does not matter to me!:p |
I'm not sure about other yorkies because Izzy is my first but she loves to be dressed up. She always runs around excited after I dress her and put a bow in her hair. And from what i understand their hair does not have that "under-coat" like other dogs have to keep them warm... This winter she will even have little boots to keep her feet warm...She my baby, can you tell..lol:aimeeyork |
I get comments sometimes about dressing my baby! They just don't get it! I had my husband put up a closet pole to hang up all of Chloe's clothes! If it makes me happy that's all that matters! Chloe loves it anyways! I must admit she has a great wardrobe! |

I make dresses for all my yorkies. They have a D ring so their leash attaches to it. Everybody I meet likes then alot. |
Everyone who sees mine all dressed up smile. So far, not nasty comments:p |
Strangers have never commented, but friends have, yes. Generally speaking, I'm not a huge fan of dog clothes (more laundry!), but she does get cold in winter, so she wears a coat (most people just don't realise that small dogs can get cold!). During summer, on a cool evening I'll put her in a little t-shirt for a while, just so she continues to be used to wearing something (would be awful to have to retrain her into wearing the coat when winter comes round again!). |

In the eyes of the non Yorkie owner or large dog owners, they are dogs, they come with fur/hair why are you dressing them like children. I have to admit seasonal attire for winter is recommended for breeds not bred for the winter environment. I don't dress Teegy up any other time but I would love to know what the reasoning is behind putting clothes on your dog everyday. Not to judge just to understand why. I can only think it's because you can. |
I put sweaters on Dink to keep in warm.He looks adorable, but I have to admit, sometimes he looks like a little boy with a fat tummy and a too short sweater, and it makes ME laugh. (He's skinny, it's just the way the sweater fits.) |
I was always taught that if you are cold enough for a sweater, sweatshirt, coat etc., your dog needs one too. Sammy is getting older and when it's cold I keep him in a Tshirt in the house and a coat or sweater outside. I really don't care if anyone has a comment to make about it. He's my baby and if I want to put clothes on him I will! |
I love to dress Rosie up. Most of the time around the house she doesn't wear clothes. But if we go out or special occasions she will dress up. Always coats during winter and raincoats when it is wet. My parents think I am a nut! :p But no one else has said anything negative to me. |
I don't understand why people wouldn't dress their dogs everyday- I mean I don't walk around naked, why should they? is it because they can't dress themselves? |
