The cotton coat So I just read up on different coat Styles of Yorkies. I am almost certain Precious has a cotton coat. Her mom and dad were both silver and tan. How many of you have cotton coat yorkies? Do you have pics of adults? I'm in love with the longer look especially around the face but I hear w/a cotton coat, grooming is much more difficult. Anyone have pics to share? |

OMGosh....Those are some cute pics of cotton coat puppies. I always thought my Muffin had a cotton coat, but now I think it's an extremely cottony coat. She looks like a teajug sometimes with all her fluff...and it's all FLUFF. |
3 Attachment(s) How old is Precious? Wait till the puppy hair grows out before really taking a look at her coat. I have heard that puppy hair is pretty bad. Kaji does have a cottony coat. His beard like, those that posted, falls pretty straight. The hair on the top of his head is pretty straight too, his head hair does have a few kinks here and there. His hair is super thick all over, and oh so very soft. He feels softer than a brand new teddy bear. His body hair curls, not as much as Dex's hair (he's so cute by the way) but even with his current short cut you can see it definitely has waves. I'll be growing out his hair after this summer. She's 10 weeks old and there's more fluff than dog !! Super thick and super soft. I'm assuming she's not silky bcs she feels more like a stuffed animal than human hair :confused: |
I can't guarantee this, since Kaji came home with no puppy hair, puppy hair is suppose to be very different from adult hair. For now, it's a wait and see game. There is a flash test you could do, it's pretty accurate too. When you're taking a picture and the flash is in their eyes, if they're silky, their eyes will get a green flash dot. If they flash red, like devil dog eyes, then they're cotton coated. |

Ok I had a post a while back titled I feel like the worst mom ever, it may b in my history. Anyways there is a pic of her and my hubby cuddled . Her eyes are whitish blue.... Almost icy looking. What does the blue mean? |

I meant further up. Blue means puppy. You'll have to wait for her to grow before determining if she's a green or a red. :p |

4 Attachment(s) Here are a couple of morgans puppy pictures so you can see how her coat was at a really young age. she always had a lot of coat. her puppy fuzz was just as thick as it is today just darker and poofier. Her hair stayed pretty ridiculous for a few years. It grows outward inside of down so she just looks big, round, and fat! Thankfully her hair is straight so no curly butt here :D and the hair on her head is silkier then the hair on her body. 1st - 14 weeks 2nd - 16 weeks 3rd - 20 weeks 4th - 24 weeks as you can see in the pictures her eyes shine green as a puppy so i don't think eye shine is accurate when their babies. |
Thanks everyone I guess time will tell w this one I really just want to b able to keep a topknot w bows. I know the maintenance w not constantly trimming up the face would b easier. If I have to keep her body short I'm ok w that. I live in one of the hottest , muggiest states there is :o |

I noticed her roots changing a couple weeks ago. They're almost reddish orange on her skull so I assumed her face would be mostly golden. I notice it mostly around her ears. Here's a pic of her this morning still w/the blue eyed glow. Oh and she sooo is a curly butt!! I love her :) |
