Anyone else with dog shopping obsessions? I'm not *totally* obsessed, of course (I keep telling myself that... :p) but the other day I was organizing all my of stuff, then it came to organizing Jackson's things. I have a plastic drawer thing I keep in the closest with 3 drawers for his stuff... anyways I came to realize how ridiculous it was all the stuff he has! ONE dog... and he's got like 4-5 harnesses, probably 8-10 collars, a bunch of shampoo's and shampoo samples, a bunch of food samples (he either didn't like, or we didn't use, yet I still keep them in a baggy...) a few different plastic food bowls (I find these for cheap like $1, and can't pass them up) and just ... a variety of things. He doesn't have too many clothes, I'm good in that area... lol. Just a few jackets for winter and maybe 5 tshirts that he never wears but I buy anyways lol. But every time I see something cheap in the store or whatever, I just can't pass it up! Oh, let's not forget the whole basket of toys he has that he rarely plays with... totally insane! But of course he's worth it. The way I look at it, if I ever get a 2nd dog, I will be pretty much set in supplies! I just wanted to be sure I'm not the only crazy one :p or maybe I am? |
count the d gang in lol - can you tell by our photo bucket lollllll. I cannot pass on cute dog stuff just cannot do it - helpppppp hey maybe we can have doggie shopping annonymous group |
LOL...believe me you are NOT alone nor crazy. I only have Zhoie and my house looks like I must have at least 5, haha. She has 5 harness with matching leads, several winter coats, dresses, nighties, lots of t-shirts (her favorite by the way) but here's the kicker...she has 5 different rain coats-(slickers, reversible, wind breaker)....like what am I thinking....how darn much did I think we was going to be in the rain anyway...duh! In my living room there is a hugh, and I do mean hugh wicker basket that is full of toys. I'm not alone in this though, even when dh goes out, he brings her a toy just because she runs so excited like it is expected, bag rattles...it's a toy...YAY. Ok....yeah..I am a little crazy.....lol. :D |
I am the SAME way. So far we have two fabric bins for all of his stuff. I too cannot pass of cheap stuff... you never know when you'll need those 8 collars! ;) Atleast thats what I tell the boyfriend. He is over taking my closet space for my clothes :(. I need to step up my game , and get a plastic container with drawers! |
Morgan has all the stuff Jackson has and then some! She has tons of clothes that I think are adorable, buy them, put it on to take pictures, an then put them in the closet probably never to be worn again. My big obsession seems to be beds and bowls though. I have one dog and live in a studio like apartment but yet i have 5 beds and tons of doggie blankets, plus at least 7 bowls and a water bottle . then there is all the grooming products i buy for a dog i keep shaved most of the year with no top knot. *stands up and raises right hand* Hi my name is Kellie and I'm a dog accessory shopaholic! |
these guys are in...we shop and shop some more. i make them blankies and clothes and beds and they have a ton of stuff. every time i'm out i'm bringing back a toy or bowl or outfit. they have like 5 beds or more, four water bowls out all the time, their own color coded food bowls and leashes and harnesses. toys all over the place. it's so silly and i can't stop!!! HELP! speaking of this, tomorrow i'm going to work on clothes for the fourth of july and for football season. |
I am sooo glad I am not alone! Quote:

HA i wish morgan's beds only cost $10. i can't help myself and end up buying the cute handmade ones on YT. i have a napsack from chattiesmom and a love nest from YHR. plus a fleece puffy doughnut type bed from another yorkie rescue. a few fleece blankets from YT members and 2 beds from the pet store. i'm ridiculous... |
Ha....We are finally speaking out. My name is Dawn and I'm a Puppy-shop-a-holic. Not only do I buy everything under the shining sun that she NEEDS but I find myself constantly looking in the rescue sections, on local advertising sites etc to see if there are any dogs that need my help... even though DH would KILL me if I got another dog  |

I have two big bags of toys in the garage that I intend to give to the shelter or a rescue and a big basket of toys in my living room. I have a ridiculous amount of them. Also, all the IGs sleep under blankets, all the IGs, it is a breed thing, so I habitually buy fleece throws when they are on sale. I even have new throws on hand and when I've placed my fosters, I sent a new throw home with them as part of their adoption package, along with one of the many, many coats I have around here. Lizzie is getting her own little collection of stuff. I've got three harnesses and I don't know how many collars for her. I have to admit, when I joined this board and saw the sticky "Yorkie Coats, Colors and Puppy Growth Charts," my first thought was "shopping opportunity." Sheesh! |
:lol tears |
My name is Bo, I AM a yorkie stuff shop-a-holic. Ah heck, the truth comes out...just a plain shop-a-holic will do. lol |
I find myself making wishlists for things I would buy for Kaji, and things I would buy if I had a girl dog. Back when I had a job, every time I splurged for myself, it ended up being things Kaji could use. Maybe you could to what I did and decide you're shopping for a cause. Every few weeks, go through all the stuff that you have for Jackson, decide what you really like and what you can live without. Take what is leftover and donate it to a shelter. I have lots of toys that I either bought, or was given, that Kaji doesn't even look at. They're all going to the shelter next week. |
I am definitely a shop-a-holic when it comes to stuff for Roxie. She is one little dog...with tons of stuff! She has an ex-pen inside, an ex-pen outside, a soft sided crate, and a cage. She has bins of toys. She has 2 harnesses, 3 leashes, a whole bunch of shirts and sweaters, blankets galore, and the list could go on and on. A few weeks ago I ordered a carry bag for her that I haven't even used yet (but it's so darn cute!) I knew having a dog would be expensive, but I never dreamed I would get so sucked in to buying stuff for her! |

Ha! I, on the other hand, didn't know if you meant 'shopping to buy Yorkie things' or 'shopping to buy Yorkies.'! :D |
Ok Britster, after reading all of these posts I have decided that you are on the normal side of the scale after all! What you have described for your Yorkie seems to be standard operating equipment! Of course, if you are like me, you spend a lot more time shopping for the stuff than actually buying it. In that case, what your dog actually owns isn't quite an accurate reflection of the seriousness of your habit! Maybe we should all share our favorite online stores, one addict to another? Lol!! |
My bigest mistake was finding e-bay, I just cant help myself, theres just so many cute things on there. I've been banned from buying puppy sized things for our new Chi pup as we have so much stuff already. |
Yes I am a puppy shop o holic too, my baby boy Bailey has TONS of clothes and toys, I have stuff hidden under the bed too !!!! :0 |
Oh man we have a ton of stuff for the furbutts the bf doesn't even say anything anymore lol when we have extra money it always goes to getting them something |

I have to show my DH this thread so he realizes I'm not the only one who is a shopaholic for my doggies! We have 7 beds, 6 dog bags/carriers, countless clothes, 9 harnesses, 18 leashes... the list goes on and on... |
Hey...My Target doesn't have the t-shirts. :( I look for them all the time too. I am totally a puppy shop-o-holic!!! I also have the plastic dressers with 5 drawers. They also have one plastic tub with lid for shampoos and conditioners and one tub with lid for extra toys that I rotate. Hair accessories galore, clothes, slings, collars, harnesses, leashes, a car seat, brushes, combs, clippers, everything one would need for their spoiled puppy. I'm glad I'm not the only one...lol. :) I wish I could give them their own room/bathroom with access to their own play yard with lots of grass and an in ground black bottom wadding pool that gradually slopes deeper.......... Ahhh....Someday.....when I win the lottery they'll have it. :) |

I thought I was the only puppy shopaholic!!!. It's like I eat sleep and breath puppy clothes! Everywhere I go I'm on the hunt! Especially online. If I had room I would totally have a puppy armoire. |
It's nice to know I'm not the only one. I converted my laundry room into my doggie room, and they have a whole 5 ft shelf full of supplies, their grooming table and I just recently had to go buy another plastic drawer unit (the kind on wheels that has a bunch of drawers) to add to my other two because we ran out of room to store stuff. That doesn't account for the massive grooming products under the kitchen sink (that cost way more than what I spend on my own, btw). I can relate to the post about multiple raincoats....I have them too, and more winter coats than we need, and we live in Florida. :) |
