| Yorkie hair. Hi , I am new to YT and glad I found it. I have a question about yorkie hair. I have four yorkies, Two have regular hair, straight black with silver and brown. Then I have two rescues. Both have curly hair but the same colors. Is that common with yorkies ? I have never seen it before. They look like reg. yorkies but people keep asking what are they mixed with. I was told both are AKC registered. Are they just like people some have curly and straight. Any info would be helpful. I have had yorkies for the past 26 yrs. thanks for any input. |

YES! The curly is called a cottony coat. Totally normal, although something that breeders don't specifically breed for. My boy is a cottony coated boy.

| Welcome to YT! Yes, yorkies can come in a range of colors and hair types that stray from the standard, but they are still yorkies! My Uni is a silky coated yorkie, but her hair on her butt is a little wavy. We call her curly butt!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Hi there ! Even silky coats can have a curl from what I've seen, Cheri does and I use my hair dryer to straighten it sometimes but mostly I let it be. It's not like she's needs to impress anyone The rest of her hair hangs very straight I think lots of us have little silky coated yorkies that have that 'curl on the butt'. Edited to add - this does not mean they're mixed !

| Jada is my little curly butt. She has thick silky feeling hair and rarely has mats. I always thought of her coat as modified, but now I am wondering if it is silky, just really thick. I don't use a blow dryer on her to dry her after a bath, I let her dry naturally. Her little butt looks like she has a perm and I love her curly lil bum.

| Curly hair yorkie. Thanks for all the welcomes. Thanks for the info about the hair on two of my yorkies. I noticed that most said the curl is in the back end or butt. Well Julie and Rosie is curly all over legs included. A loose curl even around the face , kind of a wave. Just curious. Thanks alot |

| Hehee, lots of curly butts! Mimi has a curly butt too! But that's mostly created by her sitting on my lap when I blow dry her. I learned in grooming school not to use your hands when drying, bc it causes curls...I think it's cute. Momo has a cottony coat & it's so thick, so his hair mostly hangs down when it's long & there's no curl to it.
