When I first brought her home , I wanted a girly name for my baby . I had heard shorter names are easier for dogs to learn . I thought Suzi was a cute name for our girl , and she responds well to her name. :)

I originally thought that I wanted a female puppy when I started looking, and I was sure I wanted to name the puppy Audrey, after my favorite actress Audrey Hepburn (since I didn't want to name any of my future children after her and leave them feeling like they couldn't live up to her or something). But then, I found a breeder I loved and she told me she was going into retirement from breeding and she had one litter of 2 puppies that was due in a few weeks, so if there was a female, it was mine. Unfortunately, the female in the litter didn't survive the birth, but there was a little boy and she sent me a picture. I fell in love and decided to take the boy instead. I went to see him and he was perfect. But then I was faced with what name? I thought about a few others, Bailey, Sterling, and then it clicked, Hepburn! What a perfect name! So now I have my furbaby, Hepburn, and I couldn't be happier! We call him Happy Heppie, and the kids I babysit for call him Heppie meal, because they love mcdonalds and their english isn't so good, they think heppie sounds like happy.

I once have a ferret names Wiggles. and loved the name. so when We got our Schnoodle I wanted to name him Wiggles to but my Boyfriend didn't like that and hes big into baceball so we negotiated and came up with Wriggley. like Wriggleys Field. the Baseball Field. So when we Got our Yorkie Chipper we stayed with the base ball theme and named him after Chipper Jones a Big base ball player.

She came with it! I didn't get her until she was almost 6 months old. They had been calling her Rosie so I kept it Rosie. I did add her middle name. So now she is Rosie Marie!

hi, i have a new edition to the family, an unwanted pup due to illness, so that 3 yorkies and a mix yorkie, he was already named GINO after gino de campo the gorgeous italian chef, i was not sure bout the name but the longer i have him it has grown on me and he responds well. the others are sonny-my wee son,beau-beautiful, bailie-baileys irish cream and the same colour ,, :)

Hi I'm new to the Yorkie world and George is my furbaby. When my grandchildren were toddlers I would say to them '' I'm going to hug you and love you and call you George '' I think it was from a Bugs Bunny cartoon from when my own children were small. So when I told our 11 yr old granddaughter I was finally getting a puppy I asked her what do you think I should call him she said without a pause ''George''....we love George and have had a lot of people tell me they love his name ..BTW I love this site !

I got the name Zach from a very embarrassing and horrible situation which I really don't like to talk about but since you people are like family I guess I can tell you. In August I got involved with a major puppy scam. I was stupid and I ended up spending $3500 on this puppy scam. When we thought we were going to get the puppy we named it Zach, but there was never a puppy and I really got taken in. I was so depressed that my friend went out and got Zach for me. We thought that having the name Zach would help me get get over this trauma. I was a mess. If we ever get another male yorkie we are going to call it Oliver after my favorite musical.

Well, my husband and I are huuuge comic book junkies and we wanted to name him after a comic book hero so we sat down and made a list but nothing seemed to fit, and he wasn't really giving us much of a reaction to anything we tried. Just as we were moving on to other random name ideas, my hubby wanted to name him Chuck Norris, the little furball comes running into the room with an ace of spades playing card in his mouth. (To this day I have no clue where he found that card) We both jumped up and said "Gambit" we didn't even think of that character! After laughing for a while, we started calling him that and he responded fairly well to it so now my little shoe destroyer is named after the card throwing X-Man, Gambit.

In the weeks before Opi came home to us, we (me, my hubby, our son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter & fiance) would toss around names..cute names, fun names, silly names, strange names. One night we're all sitting around and my son-in-law says "she's so tiny, she needs a big name...how about Optimus Prime?" I was "huh? no! she's a little girl!" Well let me tell you, while she was a gift to me from my hubby, and she was my baby..I was completely overruled, out-voted, and I lost..lol. My family went nuts for that name. :confused: no matter what name i came up with or my arguments against the name..i couldn't win. They whole lot of them to to our family & friends and all over facebook people loved her name. I had one request/demand.. that while her official name is Optimus Prime, I wanted it to sound cute, so I came up with Opi, for her initials obviously..both her names are a hit! she does have many nicknames..dopie, dopamine, littlemus prime, the dopester, opidoodles. I will say..she does really act like she's as big as her name sounds. :)

I wanted to name our dog Toby but my sons thought that was a stupid name. So they named him Sammy after Sammy Sosa who played for the Cubs at that time. We are Yankees fans so I don't know how we wound up with a dog named after another team's player LOL.

For Monkey... His name is really Bentley Eduoard. Benley came just b/c I wanted something proper; the middle name b/c when the breeder said he was ready to come home; that weekend tropical storm Eduoard was heading towards Houston. I wasn't going to let some silly storm stop me from getting my baby so my neighbor and I drove like the dickens to get there and out before it started raining too hard. We were safe and dry and all cuddlie while it rained and rained outside :o) However, after having him for just a short time, his nickname (which is all he knows) became Monkey because he climbed out of the pen we had for him.

Maddie came to us suddenly when we learned she was being rehomed just before Christmas last year. We call her our rescue baby because I am not sure how many people would have taken a dog that frightened. She was in a terrifying situation and very tramatized. Her name was Bella originally and I was going to keep it b/c I love that name so much. BUT after having her for a while and going through some problems getting her to adjust, I had some YT recommendations to treat her as if her past life never really happened. I took that to heart and decided that we needed to start fresh. I went back to being proper (not sure when I will learn my lesson) and came up with Madeleine Louise. Of course, her true self came out and she turned into Maddie which has been being morphed into Maddie Madds and more often than not we now are calling her Madds.

Ben got his name along with the female I bought about the same time. I had always wanted a Mercedes Benz and was even saving up. Instead, I decided to get my Yorkies which I had also been wanting for quite a long time! So, I named them:
Mercedes' Ben and Ben's Mercedes! Cute and corny, I know. :) BTW I still have my same old SUV and no Benz. But I would never trade my real Ben for any vehicle. We lost my sweet Mercedes/Sadie. I have finally gotten a new yorkie girl, both in honor and memory of my Sadie.

I had really taken a liking to a new show on TV, called Covert Affairs. The leading lady CIA agent is named Annie. Her love interest of the past is named Ben. So, it seemed a natural. My new yorkie girl's name is Annie! :) She is cute, active, smart, and the star of our show!

I had a Suzy growing up. She was a german shephard and such a great dog with us kids. My mother will tell the story of me watching my aunt putting contacts in her eyes and I had all these question. The next day she caught me putting small little pepples in Suzy's ears :eek: and she was just sitting there letting me. She was such a good girl. Can you imagine?????? I was too young to remember it but I hope I got a good spanking!! :(

Macy got her name because I just liked the name, lol. A lot of people always ask me this though, 'Is she named after the store Macy's?' My answer is NO, lol. We almost named her Emma, but I liked Macy better. It fits her.

I don't know why Sassy got her name. We got her when I was like 6 years old, my siblings and I were fighting over what to name her. I remember I wanted Princess. My parents didn't like how we argued over the names, so they decided. My mom liked Sassy, so that's how she got her name, lol.

When I went to see Shay...they had named him MIKEY..to plain for me..

I had named all my children Italian names (cause my hubby was Italian, and they fit better with a very italian last name) so me being an Irish girl, I wanted an Irish name...Shay....a gift! he was such a lil guy, and what a gift he has been to me....

Sophie had her name when she came to me I just added the Lynn. Well actually my grand daughter did because her middle name is Lynn. I just started calling her Sophie Lynn and it stuck. Scooter was named by both my Grand daughter because he scoots around on the floor on his side.

When I got Charlie, I wanted to name him something like Bentley or Hampton but my son kept saying no no no because he liked the name Charlie (why I don't know) so I finally gave in and gave him the name Charles Barkley (since he was from the Birmingham area and played Basketball). Natalie came with the name, although I don't know what her middle name is. I guess I will have to research that! LOL

My fiance' wanted to name Taylor after his best friend who had died in a motorcycle accident.

So I went with that and registered him as Taylor Made Valentine. He's our little lover with a heart of gold and wouldn't trade him for anything or anyone. :D

When I went to pick up my little guy I had about 7 names I was thinking about. I hadn't decided on a name and on the road back home I was saying boy, if he was a girl I would name her Tiffany because I bought so many things for him. Then I got to thinking about expensive cars and Bentley came to mind...I loved the name and I have fallen head over heels for my Bentley! Never had a Yorkie before and he is my life.

Our Yorkies name is "Happy", we named him this as he was abandoned and severely neglected. He has three legs, not neutered and horrible decaying teeth - which are being rectified asap :)

I thought the name "Happy" would be good karma for him, that he could become what his name is and it makes us smile (and others ) when we say it. :)

Ella was the C bunch. I love Disney and anything disney and the name Ella (thought about naming a future daughter that) Instead Ella fell from the heavens first so she got the name. Registered name Cinderella my chocolate dream come true (she's chocolate). Schmuckles was given to me my first pup, his real name is Prince Versace (every animal in the apartment had designer brand popular names (Kahlua, Armani, Louis Vitton, etc.... we had 7 animals mostly rescued and furever home found). But the person who get me Schmuckles said he looked like a schmuck. add the "les" and you got a cute original never heard before pup name!

Levi came to me with his name. I kept for for several reasons: he responded to it well, it's cute, and it fits him. Plus I just like four-letter names. My name is four letters, as is the boyfriend's - so we all match. :)

My little boy puppy's name is Darcy. A lot of people give me a hard time and tell me that's a girls name but it actually started in Ireland as a Gaelic boys name- it means "dark" in Gaelic.

But that's not where I got the name- I got it because I love "Pride and Prejudice", so he is named after Mr.Darcy :)

We got our boy first and we decided to call him BJ. My son's name is JD. And I just like initials like that. So BJ it was. Then we got BJ's sister so he could have a playmate and my hubby named her Lil' Ann after the movie "Where the red fern grows". He says he wished he knew that we would have gotten a second one cause we would have called them Dan and Lil' Ann in the movie "Where the red fern grows . A little boy gets two dogs and calls them Dan and Lil' Ann. Great movie by the way:D
