lol that is funny it must be a maltese thing as demi will not pee on a dirty pad so we have to wash 3 times a day our pads and rotate. If it is dirty she will pee right next to it to punish us

I do still use some throw rugs but they are rubber backed and washable. I would love a big area rug in the living room though...but...that might be a while down the road...for now I just have small rugs in front of the couch and chair.

Well I'm having a huge problem with them using the bathroom right on the lanoleum floor despite the fact that I have 2-3 pads down. I don't understand it and am not sure what to do about it. I put them in the kitchen at night and when we are not home and put a gate up. It's frustrating to get up in the morning, and come home at night and have to always clean up a mess despite 2-3 pads. If they are in a small space, they still use it. I'm just not sure what I am doing wrong and wish I could fix it!!!! I'm not even sure who does it usually, but my husband said he caught Lexi the other day so it may be her doing it a lot.

Mimi used to do the peeing on the edge (getting the floor & bottom of the pad wet) thing & drive me bonkers! This is what I did to correct her & it worked for us. When she picks a spot to pee (which would be on the edge:rolleyes:) I lifted her bum & placed it on the pad. After a few times, she pees on the pad now...knock on wood.:D

If you decide to use washable pads just keep in mind that your dogs might want to use carpets, rugs and anything else that feels like fabric as potty pads after that. Mine use a doggie door when we're home and a pad at night or when we leave but they don't always hit the pad...sometimes it's the rug.
I dont use washables and I STILL have this problem.

I had to pick up all my rugs... I HATE having bare floors but they would pee all over the rugs and they would need to get thrown away after a short time, they will also pee on blankets if they get left on the floor :rolleyes:

I have just resigned myself to never having nice soft carpet under my feet ever again. :(
