Bows on boys? I'm a little embarassed to ask this, but are bows and top knots only for girl Yorkies? I think they look so adorable with them but I do realize that it's pretty weird to put a bow in a boy's hair normally lol! I put a black bow in my boy's hair and had friends yelling at me that he looks like a girl . I don't intend to make my dog a cross dresser or try to pass him off as female . . . I just think Yorkies look super cute with top knots. Please tell me if I'm making my dog look ridiculous by doing this! I'm getting him groomed soon and I'm not really sure what I'd have them do with the hair on his head if he's not going to have a top knot . |
Boys have to have their hair out of their eyes too. :p Find some cute little manly bows...with little footballs or race cars. :) |
I think as long as you get bows that are boyish you should be fine... and who cares what they say about your dog hes yours and if you think it looks cute, well thats all that matters. |

In the ring, bows and topknots are standard for males or females. Don't worry about your friends, do what you want! I love the way red looks on Joey, and try to stay away from girly bows, but I have one lavendar one with a teddy bear and it's so cute, but all my friends think I'm nuts anyway. ;) Check out Ladymom's boy bows. I put bows in my boy's hair too. I use red, yellow, blue, green, purple, white, anything I want. Just never pink. I love the way it looks. :) |

I keep Bogie's hair up in a topknot all the time, if not it is flopping in his eyes. I don't normally keep a bow in everyday, but if we go out he is always in a harness vest and matching bow. I make all of Bogie and Jada's clothes myself so they always wear matching outfits when we go out. I just make Bogie's bows more manly looking. |
I think boys are just as adorable in bows! Sometimes it takes them a little while to get used to them but before you know it, they don't pay attention to whats on their head anymore :) I don't put a bow on all of mine everyday though. Most days I just keep their hair up in a band (so they can see), similar to these http://www.laineeltd.com/cgi-bin/lai...ml?id=eW9D3CzG Here are a few more sites with nice bows: www.doggybow.com www.poochiepetite.com/ |
I personally wouldn't have my boy in a bow or a topknot, but that's all just personal preference. I think the boys can look just as manly with a bow or topknot! Don't worry about what others think. ;) |
3 Attachment(s) I always keep Cooper's hair short in a puppy cut. One day last summer I picked him up from the groomer and I almost fainted. OMG! She said it was a MAN BOW. (forgive me Cooper for sharing these photos) |
Bogey wears a topknot and my favorite are the animal print bows. But we also have all other colors too. |

I do a puppy cut now too...and I always askfor a neck scarf instead of any bows...But Cooper was very brave to try such a fashion statement...he is comfortable with his manhood is what my 21 y/o said when he saw it:D |
magic always has his hair in topknot and it is really easy to find boy bows. His hair is very thick and i have to do 2 ponytails one right behind the other and hook them together to keep the topknot from falling in his eyes. but when i put the bow in you can't tell about the 2 ponytails. i usually take out at night to give his head a rest. |

The males I have had wear the fanciest bows they make...one cost me $20.. but you can buy those tiny, plain bands at Walmart..they are clothe and stretchy...all color, even black and white.. |
Thanks everyone, you make me feel much better :D! I was starting to think I was weird for wanting to do this so I'm glad to hear that it's so widely accepted! I'll definitely be putting bows in Nikko's hair and I'm loving the links some of you posted! The pics of Cooper are priceless, thanks for posting! It looks like he was a really good sport about it, what a cutie! |

Ryder is the one I have that never messes with his bows. |
I just ponytail Jaspers hair most of the time when he is just lounging in the house or outside pestering everyone. When we go to the nursing home, to the pet store, or walks he gets "dressed up". Poor guy even acts different with his "sissy bow" (my kids say that). He is such a sweet dog and mellow but when the bow goes on he usually hangs his head down and sighs..It is so funny but then he perks up when he sees the elderly or the special ed kids. But without a bow or ponytail his hair is all in his eyes and he looks like a madman. So no options really. |
