♥ My darling pug Tang is gone... ♥
 

Some of you may remember me posting about my pug dog Tang. HERE is the thread. She was a petstore purchase, bought before I knew better. The petstore that I purchased her from (Brentwood Mall, Burnaby, BC), I have since learned purchases their puppies from the dreaded Hunte Corp.

Tang has had numerous health issues her whole life. Finally, yesterday (on my 33rd birthday, and my anniversary) she was laid to rest. Tang was vomiting all day (at least 50 times,. some of it blood), and shaking like a leaf. She was completely out of sorts, there was no way of comforting her. She couldn't stand, sit, lay...nothing made her feel "better". She lost 4 lbs in 3 days time. That's quite a bit for a 19lb dog. We could tell that the last 3 weeks things were really taking a turn for the worst, the last 3 days were HORRIBLE. Her final day being the worst of them all. When I took her to the vet yesterday, they discovered a Stage 3 heart murmur, her kidneys were failing, and she had a large tumor as well as several small tumors inside. On top of all of that, her spine was in terrible shape due to the Spondylosis. The vet was surprised that she could still manage to teeter around...somewhat anyways. The fusing of her spine had moved all the way up to her neck and there were many bone spurs compressing her spinal column. We made the difficult decision to let her be in peace (finally). She would have been 9 yrs old this June 8th. I am SO angry and sad that she only lived half of the life that she should have. PLEASE, please, please NEVER buy a pet from a pet store. DO NOT support the puppymills and the torture that they are inflicting on these poor, helpless animals. Tang suffered 9 yrs due to being poorly bred for those selfish jerks to make a buck.

That picture makes me burst into tears every time I see it. It is however the only thing that has given my 3 kids some comfort. For some reason, that picture makes them feel better. I guess it's because she looks peaceful? I'm just glad that I thought to pull out my blackberry and take that final picture.

I was OK until I saw that one ... Kudos to your husband for showing his love for an animal. And yes, she does look peaceful ...

There are times I wish I had a magic wand, something I could just wave over heads and take all the pain away. This is one of those times ....

"I'm sorry" doesn't sound like much, but there's a lot of empathy behind it for you and your family.

I'm reading this with tears rolling down my face. The poor baby. What a shame this had to happen. You were his angel on earth. You made his very short time here a very happy one. Bless you and your family.

I too am sitting her with tears streaming down my face. My heartfelt condolences for your loss and bless you and your husband for being with him while he went home. OMG..I'm sobbing like a baby. Your loss is deep I know. I too held my Cass and my Leilauni..when they crossed and that picture of your husband holding your beloved Tang just ripped right through my heart. He's at peace now and you did the best thing for him.

I am so sorry for your loss. All of the pictures you posted are such sweet pictures. What a sweet little face. They all touched my heart. Of course, the last one has me in tears. It's because I've been there and know the sadness and pain you feel. I'm glad your children find some comfort in seeing this pic. Tell your husband how sorry I am. I could tell he loved her very much.

oh that brings back memories when I put my snickers down she was with us for over 15 years, your husband is strong to be able to do that! it is a very hard thing to do. sorry for your loss

He actually wasn't strong at all. He was a complete wreck. If I wouldn't have been there to deal with everything, he would have been lost. It tore my heart out to see him such a mess. Normally, he is quite the "tough guy", not this time.
