Please don't re-chip her...my vet said not to do that with mine because it would be confusing if they were ever scanned and they could get conflicting information. Have her scanned and it should tell you what kind of chip it is and then you contact the company and give them your information. There may be a fee to do this but it is the responsibility of the owner to register the chip when they get a new dog...not the breeder. I hope all goes well and you get her back at 2. |

Mary, contact the company that the chip is registered through, they can help you change the information if the breeder does not respond to them, and if they can not change the information or the breeder wont allow it, at least get listed as secondary on her emergency contacts. There is a way to have it done right, just as long as everything is on the up and up! |

I am so glad that you think it is her! I'm sure that you can ask to have her information changed to your since you do have a vet and all paperwork to prove ownership. I believe it was the breeder that was contacted by the vet who scanned the lost dog. When the breeder didn't get back to the person who had the dog it was rehomed. Chipping is only as good as the person who finds your lost dog wants it to be. :( All of the YHR rescued are chipped and the registration can be changed to the new owners after they are adopted. So it is possible to change the chip information. You should have your vet scan and keep the chip number in your vets records along with a picture of your dog for identification purposes. That way if something were to ever happen you could refer to your vet for confirmation that they indeed belong to you. :) |
