Nervous about first grooming. I took Rhett in to get his first grooming appt. done today. They are supposedly only going to "clean him up" around the face, paws and sanitary area. I wanted this to be as easy on him as possible. I'm a bundle of nerves right now! He's always been good with me about his bath, so I hope he does well. The groomer said I could come pick him up around 1:30, so I'm counting down the minutes... I'll post pictures later. |
It's always hard thinking of how they are without us! I'm sure he'll be a perfect, patient little boy:rolleyes:. Can't wait to see the pics. |
Can't wait to see how he turns out! Good luck! I know what you mean about being nervous...I was a basket case the first couple of times with Chloe. -C |
If you didn't take him to Petsmart, he should be just fine.:) |
3 Attachment(s) :( I'm so sad. The groomer (it wasn't petsmart) shaved his face and nose so close that you can see the skin. He's itching like crazy right now. She also clipped really close on his legs, so he looks like a little bear on stilts ( I asked just to have him clipped around his feet). Then on his back side he has what she calls a "poop shoot"...it's a completely shaved stripe down his butt. Poor little guy was shaking like mad when I picked him up. He rode all the way home with his head on my shoulder. I forgot to tell her no cologne- so he stinks to high heaven right now, too. I know it's my fault for not explaining better. Live and learn. But this wasn't supposed to be a rough experience for him. The first picture was from this morning. The last two are are from this afternoon. I also think he looks definitely more Silky than Yorkie now. What do you think? |
post pictures! :) I'm waiting for Cerise's 1st birthday in July before she goes to a pro. |
What's with all the groomers that don't listen. Sorry, Rhett's experience was not pleasant. He does, however, look extremely cute, and it will grow back. |
Perhaps you are so used to seeing him the way he was that you are still in shock, but I think he is one adorable lil feller!:p |

first let me say that he is a cutie no matter what. second, i wouldn't go back to that groomer. I really hate when groomers shave their noses like that. I use thinning shears to give it a more natural look instead of the bald look. Also she shaved way too much of his ears (unless you asked her to do that to try to get them to stand). The "poop shoot" is retarded as well. The anal sanitary area is not suppose to be that big. on a yorkie i usually clip half an inch on all sides of the anus. i can't really see his legs so i can't comment on them. He does look really cute though and i'm sure its just a change for you to get used to. |
I too, think he looks adorable! Cooper's first haircut was a complete nightmare. I swear I brought a schnauzer home from the groomer. Rhett's hair will grow back before you know it, and I'm sure he's just itchy because it's new to him. Don't let him see you upset and be sure to tell him how handsome he looks. |
I can live with the less than stellar cut. It's hair after all and will grow out. She did shave almost all the way down his ears, definitely more than "tipping". I'll try to get a better picture of his legs- they are cut really close in some areas with chunks missing out of other areas. He really does look like a little puff ball with stork legs :) Poor little guy, though. He keeps licking his back end and rubbing his nose. I don't know whether it's a razor burn or a reaction to the shampoo/cologne. Should I re-bathe him? Is there anything I can give him to help with the itching? |
Whenever mine had the itchies back there after grooming, I would just put a bit of hydrocortisone cream on a kleenex and smooth it on and the itchies stopped. |
