Who is watching the Animal Planet special on mills tonight??
 
there is a special on at 9pm CT on Animal Planet about puppy mills and petland pet stores. please watch and show the support we have for the research they are doing and also inform friends and family to watch and learn the truths about this horrible monster amoung us.

i'm watching too. i really hope this opens a lot of people's eyes. Most of the population has no idea about puppy mills and i hope this show helps.

I agree, I have a Puppy Mill dog and had no idea before I joined Yorkie Talk. The guilt just kills me sometimes.

for you guys who missed it (like me) - I have a feeling it'll be on again -
I've known about mills now for years but I have a very hard time watching too :(

Since I didn't see it - if they were doing a show .....did they manage to SHUT ANY DOWN ?

Not only was I very saddened but a little nauseous. That wiggly camera made me woozy.

if you check the animal planet site it lists the schedule... I think its on most nights this week, just check for the time.

They didnt shut any down... it was just attempting to PROVE links between mills and Petland puppies... there is a lawsuit going on right now in Arizona... a group of people who bought sick Petland puppies being represented by HSUS lawyers versus Petland... the "investigator" in this program was from the HSUS and Im assuming they will try to use the info gathered as part of the lawsuit.

Man - there's been lawsuits and complaints about Pethell for many YEARS - I can't believe they're still selling so many puppies with nothing done. This may be something 'new' but it's still 'old'.

It would have been nice to include raids in the show- but have to see it first before I throw in my 2 cents

We all know how sick and disgusting these puppy mills are. I didn't want to watch it either, but I did because I don't want to forget about those poor, innocent pups. I want to hurt for them and do something, if I can.

This is a wonderful tool to use for educating others about the pet store-puppy mill connection. I liked the part showing how Petland employees denied their dogs came from a puppy mill. Perhaps they really did not know. Many people have heard of puppy mills, so they ask the pet store owners, only to buy from them anyway after hearing that "their dogs" never come from such a place!

I'm saving this on my DVR to show to family and friends. I have read many posts on YT of people trying to warn someone not to buy from a pet store, then they turn around and do it anyway. Sometimes they need to see it in print or on TV to believe it.

The question I have is, what is the best way for me to help stop this horrible torture of these poor dogs? How can I make a difference and help to change things? Which organizations are the best to support? Let's all take action!

Thank goodness I missed it. I can not handle any type of cruelty to helpless animals.

They DO lie. Many years ago I went into one just to see what would happen if I asked - the answer is the same for most 'pet stores' - they claim to 'buy' from local breeders. They weren't happy with my questions at all and told me if I wasn't 'buying' anything then I should leave.

I have one (Pet store) near me and the girl at the counter quit PetHell because they buy from mills - she now works at the little place I buy my dog food and she told me they really DO buy from local breeders - they hardly EVER have pets and the ones I've seen are very well taken care of and never stay long. She told me all about the behind the scenes at Pethell and said she will always talk about them to her customers - she had my admiration that's for sure even though I don't think dogs should ever be sold in stores.

great... I have vertigo and it doesnt take much to set it off.. Just watching any TV generally makes me a little "woozy" maybe I wont be watching after all.. :(... Thanks for letting me know ahead time.

that was what they were trying to prove... they went into a Petland store and asked to see a puppy... got the whole sales pitch from the lady including the name of the breeder and how wonderful she was... then the investigator went to THAT breeders place and it was as expected a mill... so they were able to establish a direct connection and prove the lies... it obviously didnt get anywhere as far as shutting down the mills but hopefully it opened up some puppy buyers eyes, that no matter what they tell you and how good the story is... puppy store dogs almost always come from mills.

Every time I hear about people buying from pet stores, I tell them that those dogs are from puppy mills and that they need to do some research and find a reputable breeder. The response I always get is "the pet store finances you and you can make payments." That makes me so mad.:(

Tell them to save the equivalent of the puppy first before buying it, then they won\'t have to worry about financing. Better yet- go to a rescue.
