PetLand being investigated on Animal Planet Investigates!! Animal Planet Investigates: Petland Date: Monday, May 17, 2010 Time: 10:00pm - 11:00pm Location: wherever you have a tv! *About The Show* Revealing the grim connection between puppy mills and pet stores, the one-hour program follows "Mike," an HSUS animal cruelty investigator, as he assumes a new identity, goes undercover with a hidden camera, and talks his way into dozens of alleged puppy mills in the Midwest suspected by The HSUS to be suppliers to Petland, a major chain of pet stores. While exposing the heartbreaking deception behind puppy mill dogs, this second program in the Animal Planet Investigates series offers another unique opportunity to go behind the scenes with The HSUS to highlight the massive efforts involved in cracking down on an industry which perpetuates a cycle of animal cruelty. *How You Can Help* Join us in the fight by signing our pledge to help stop puppy mills. The Humane Society of the United States: Survey - Sign the Stop Puppy Mills Pledge I got this from Facebook....... It's about dang time huh? Let's all make it a point to sign the petition and help to make a difference. :) Let's not forget about Wayne Pacelle CEO of HSUS :dribble: I'm hoping that he makes an appearance on the show. ;) |

I could not believe the whole "why I put down dogs" theory! I mean, does her vet do this for her without question, or is this something she just does herself? Oh to be ignorant and uneducated, what a waste of human flesh.:thumbdown |
It's on Animal Planet again right now if anyone missed it the first time around! |
:( I guess I don't have Animal planet. I will have to wait until they have it online. |

1.) Since when do puppy millers care about the quality of dog they are breeding? 2.) What kind of vet would put down dogs without question? I am telling myself that no ethical vet would this. Who knows why she would have said it if it wasn't true though. :( I feel like the Petland expose missed half the story. Even if the puppies make it past their first hurdle, the odds are good that they will have some genetic illness pop up throughout their lifetime that will likely be expensive to treat, not to mention the emotional pain the family will experience watching their dog suffer. Those breeder dogs shouldn't have been bred to begin with! I think my Lane (breeder dog in a puppymill that was busted) is as cute as she can be, but it doesn't change the fact that at 9 lbs, with floppy ears, a cotton coat, a horrible bite and luxating patellas (and these are just what are obvious to my untrained eye in terms of the AKC standard) that she never should have been bred to begin with. I wonder how many of her puppies are running around today with these issues. I can only hope they were all as lucky as her and either found loving homes by someone who didn't know they were supporting a puppymill or were one of the lucky few like Lane and part of a mill that busted and the pups sent to reputable rescues. |
oops, double post |
OMG, watching now, this is absolutely sickening ...:thumbdown:eek: to see these dogs barking desperately and running in circles and these idiots say they love their dogs .... yeah, PLEEEAASE let me love them JUST LIKE they love their dogs!!! |
what was heart wrenching to me was the lady who bought the papillon thinking she was getting a puppy from a reputable breeder only to find out she bought a puppy mill puppy that was SICK! then $3000 later she's getting the dog over pneumonia but what else will happen? |

Keyword there is ethical. Some people are just not ethical, especially when the almighty dollar is waived in front of them  |

I was out of town this week and stayed until yesterday. Guess where I was??? OKLAHOMA. I asked my cousin about dogs, I want a puppy, to see what she'd say and she sure enough knew a woman breeding out of her house and described her house as awful. She said there were no dogs there right now. OMG I was so sad. I didn't get to see the program....I know I know. I'm the OP but I'm going to watch it on Hulu if I can find it, if not. I'll get my hubby to help me find it. UGH sounds awful though :( |

Watched is also, so sad. It made me hug my little "Puppy Mill" dog and promise her life would never be like that for her again...EVER. Those people are horrible, I was just disgusted by one of the last mills he visited where the lady lived in a small mansion and her dogs were treated so poorly. I was yelling at the TV "Lady those dogs probably paid for that house". |
There are such sick people everywhere :( I didn't take Zoe up there with me, she stayed at home with her Daddy and brothers. And I missed her SO much but I am glad I didn't take her. I would worry so bad if she got loose or someone tried to take her, not that she'd ever be alone but my mind works in horribly graphic ways at times............. I'm so glad you guys got to see it. Did they turn these people in? What was the ending?!!? |
Does anyone know if it is being re played on Animal Planet? I have been looking.... |
