NO ONE here would get a yorkie and throw it outside over crying....at least no one that loves dogs would. So I have to agree - there is help out there and sometimes people just don't know they need it. |

Hmm.. whelp all I did was read the intitial first post and the answer to your question darlin is the problem with calling a yorkie (or any toy breed dog for that matter) a "teacup" is that there are no such things! The word "teacup" is an abused term used by either money seeking breeders or uneducated breeders who are only trying to catch the attention of a buyer. The breed standard is 4 to 7 lbs PERIOD. There are of course (excuse my french ladies) runts every once in a while in litters and those are smaller than others and likewise there are also bigger ones too. But someone who sells a puppy calling it a "teacup" and gurantees it's weight and size has some serious issues and definately does not give a rats butt about what's best for the breed. If you're going to buy a dog, make sure you know everything you need to know about the breed. Don't just go looking for the most expensive one or the smallest just because they can fit in your purse and make a "cute accessory" for you. Dogs aren't accessories  .. They are companions and our babies. I like others on YT believe that this 4theloveofyorkies or whatever is a fake. Just somebody trying to start a fight amongst all these great and wonderful people here @ YT. Well here's a news flash for you sunshine.. You may get a rise out of these ladies but that's only bc they know their stuff and love their dogs and they see right through you. *sigh* I feel better now! :D :yorkietal |
Teacup, Soup bowl or even Bathtub ;) no one should attack you regardless of what you call your baby, Yes we all know there really is no such thing as a tcup according to AKC standards, but the reality is that yes there is people out there that breed tiny tiny Yorkies, But the bottom line regardless of their size or weight. which ever reason he got those hairy Angels is because something about them made us like them & then love Them. I myself have a tiny yorkie. I din't know he was gonna be so small. it really din't matter to me I just wanted a small dog to carry arround with me since, I can't do that with my other 2 Babies (Rotties M 145lbs & the G is 120lbs) so I love my tiny Nemo who is a bit under 3 pounds . regardless of size we still love them & people should respect that  . I guess some peole never listen to their mothers ( IF YOU CAN'T SAY NOTHING NICE DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL !1  ) I hope you do stay here, don't let a bad apple ruin the whole bunch, there is really a lot of nice people here, that are helpfull & full of advice & understanding, Good luck & Please stay... :D |

Bottom line .... if you are here and have joined this site for all the right reasons .... "YorkieTalk members are joined at the heart!!!" |
That was so cruel for someone to do that to you. They really shouldn't be here at all if they feel they can behave in that manner. This is a great site so please stay..... Just send a message to the admin reporting it and they'll take care of it. So what if you descibe your pet as Teacup.... its just another way of saying it is on the small side. No big deal. If anyone has a comment to say about it, they should keep it to themselves.... I can't stand nasty people. What a shame this has happened. So unnecessary. |
i don't come here very often, as i have often found many of the postings on the site to contain a lot of drama, but for goodness sakes, people!!!!!!!!! we all love our yorkies. that is why we are here. yes, we all agree that money making nasty breeders are bad, but not everyone is educated! i certainly wasn't educated, until i got my yorkie and started doing some reading! now, let's just share our love of yorkies and get on with it... educating people who don't know any better can be done in a civilized manner. |

This is just my opinion for what it is worth but I dont agree that it is just a word. It is a marketing term that is used to sell tiny yorkies. The AKC doesnt recognize this term and for that reason it is a divisive term. There is usually a have to a have not attitude to the people who use it. I dont agree with blasting someone who innocently uses the term but would hate to see it used on a regular basis here. |

Too much drama in here!!! I sense, by the tone in some postings here that the word "teacup" is definately a word to be avoided... and is very disliked. I'll surely not be using that word... or my head will be bitten.. HA ! |
Here's my 2 cents (for what it's worth)....... 1. Just like in life, don't judge a group of people by one simpled minded person's actions or words. We'd ALL be in for a helluva life of misery if we did. 2. Put the members that were nasty to you on BLAST...i.e., make their names known and also report them to admin. Usually when these types are confronted, they stop. Sorry you had the experience you say you did, but do something about it. This is one awesome forum to get info on your Yorkie. Don't let another person have that kind of impact on you. |
I dont think its right for people who breed and sell their puppies to say we have tea cups. But When I here someone say I have a tea cup puppy or I saw this teacup puppy on the internet Well that does not bother me B/C theres a lot of people out there that are only saying teacup b/c they read it some where or was told it was a tea cup. When I first saw the words teacup I just knew they must be talking about a small breed. |
i think there are some people, things that will never change. i also think the word teacup when referring to yorkies and chihuahuas is here to stay. i'm just going to choose to ignore it in the future. all i can do is try to educate anyone who may not really know and move on. so she can call her yorkie whatever she likes. but for me personally i wouldn't aquire a yorkie from anyone selling as a teacup. i've said it before and i'll say it again, i know what a yorkshire terrier is. and they are all adorable regardless to size. :) |
this post doesn't warrant 75 responses. see post from red98vet above. motive for posting is suspicious, we need to stop bumping this up with our response. |
