Please Help! I Need info.. found, sick Yorkie. An accquaintance of mine calls today,,, :"Do you want another Yorkie ?" I say WHAT?! She tells me she works in Sugarcreek,,Land of Puppymills,,, and this amish man came in with a neutered small, skiny male,, sickly looking,,, and asked if anyone wanted him,, He claimed, this dog was in his field and he about ran it over with his tractor and he wondered if anyone wanted him??? So she called me,, I guess a coworker took him home, BUT cant keep him, So she said she will bring him by today and Im gonna check him out,,, Well my questions are,,, what should I be looking for,, Im gonna check his weight, his eyes, his teeth, his knees, his coat, his gums,, Im so worried, that Im gonna get all attached,, then make an appt to the vet and he'll be sick or need Hundred of dollars of medical attention,, which I can NOT afford, and I dont want to risk Bailey catching anything he might have. I'm just concerned that maybe someone got him,,found out they cant handle his medical bills or behaviour problems... I would take him in a heart beat, But,, I just dont wanna heartbreak, and cant afford tons of vet bills.. I guess I need to know what to look for if I get to see this dog,, before a vet can check him out.. He is neutered so someone cared enough to do that... ok any advise would be appreciated. thanks in advance. |
Well, I understand where you're coming from. I definitely wouldn't have him around Bailey WITHOUT him being checked first. They can have something that you don't see immediately. That's the best advice I can give. Perhaps someone else can help more, but that is what I would do. |
Awwwwwe, the poor little thing! I would hesitate to bring him straight into your home...parvo and all kinds of things can catch easily. I'm saying this because I know it is the right thing to say, but I'm afraid I would bring him in even if I knew better (shame on me). He is probably undernurished, dehydrated, has worms, hasn't had shots, and hasn't had love. Poor little bugger needs lots of TLC. Sounds like you want to check the right things, but without a vet check up, who really knows. I wish you much luck in your decision.....maybe he is a true diamond in the rough! |
I would definitely have him vet checked before I introduced him to Bailey, but who knows how this came to be... maybe he is just lost (poor baby)... did anyone check for a microchip? I doubt he came from a puppymill or he wouldn't have been neutered. Someone cared enough about him at some point to have him fixed. That is so sad, I hate to hear about stray pets... I hope this works out and you can give him or help find him a forever home. |
Oh yes, have him checked out first. I'm sure you will fall in love with him as soon as your eyes meet. (so be careful!!!) Please keep us posted. :) |
I think you should have him vet checked ASAP too but the poor little thing probably looks scraggly and sick because who knows how long he's been fending for himself. Keep us posted!!!! |
well I called her to see whats going on , ( she actually told me about him lastnight) of course I thought about him ALL NIGHT!! I know once I see him,,, well You know.... So she said, shes not at work yet, but she will call me when she is,,to let me know what's going on with him. I would rather GO to him,, rather than her bring him here,,, ( with Bailey around) So once I hear from her, I'll let ya know what is going on,,, It is all I can think about!! :( |

Yeah, I know. It would be all I could think about, too. One look and I'm gone! It's so pitiful to think of a little yorkie lost in a field. I cannot even imagine, because it's a wonder coyotes didn't get him! :( |
Let us know what happens later. I hope he's not too just. All he may need it a little love, good food and some shots from the vet. I'll pray for the best! |
Any word yet? |

Ok now Im getting Pi**ed off,,, I invest all my thoughts and worry into this dog,, and tell her Im interested,, and I hear NOTHING!! What the ____! Well just wanted to tell ya I still know nothing.. So you guys wont worry anymore, and Im going to TRY not to also. She could at least tell me whats going on, she knows Im worried to death about the little guy,,,whatever. Thats why I mentioned she was an accquaintance and not a FRIEND! lol |
OH shoot! I just got back in from being gone all afternoon and couldn't wait to see an update. I'm disappointed and I know you are too :( We'll just have to hope for the best. |
Rhonda, if you get him I will help some with the vet bills. So many people have helped me with the rescued puppies expenses. Let us know what happens. Elizabeth |
You might check in at http://www.petfinders.org in the classified section to see if anyone lost one or if you get this one. Someone must be missing him. Hope the little yorkster finds a forever home, keep us posted please. |
Well I hope she gets back with you soon. You know I was thinking it might not be ill. and of course I would have it checked out first. But it might of just been lost and got really hungry and skinny too. You never know. please keep us posted. |
I think once you finally get to see him you will make the right decision whether to keep him or not. |
I took in a stray yorkie my sister found out in the country..... 1 Attachment(s) ...but I took him straight to the vet before he even came to my house, and he stayed with my mom a couple of weeks after that. I have two dogs of my own but my heart went out to this little guy. He was skinny, all covered with matts, seed burrs and those little seed ticks, and was so frightened. This was about 3 or 4 months ago. He checked out OK at the vet (just had worms) but was dewormed. He had a limp and the vet took x-rays and said he had a cracked femur that had already healed. He had obviously been abused and it took him a while to come around, but he's doing great now. Also I took him straight to the groomer to get rid of the seed ticks and matting. Vet said he was about 8-10 months old then. He's such a funny little guy....I'm pretty he's retarded. LOL But he is so sweet and I have no regrets whatsoever. Here's a pic of him a couple of weeks after he went to the groomer. If I were you I wouldn't hesitate to get him, but take him straight to the vet first, and have him do the works on him. Maybe you know someone without dogs who can "quarantine" him a couple of weeks after the vet visit, just to be safe. Good luck! |

Do you know how BAD I wanna call her back and say " I WANT HIM" xspecially since I know hes ok,, and LOVEABLE.... Tell me he's fine, and he's got a good home.... TELL ME.... But, he was FREE even,,, that doesn't happen,,, EVER!! ok,, just had to get that off my chest.. lol Of course, I was gonna name him Riley or Ramsey... TELL ME!! |
Maybe you could call her and tell her if she has second thoughts, you would certainly want him. ;) She could be keeping him because she's not really sure that you want him. Worth a shot! :D |

Ok I called,,and told the girl to tell her , that if by ANY chance she doesn't want him, or ever wants to get rid of him , to give her my name and number, and I will take him in a heartbeat.. so if it's meant to be it will be. I had to give it a shot. :( |
