Just one thing...when you do add an animal to the family don't be surprised if you spend the first few days wondering if you've done the right thing. That's perfectly natural as it is a nerve wracking thing to do as it's changing the dynamics of the family. I've always had that feeling but it has never failed once and we've had a heck of a lot of animals over the years. |
I do have some feelings of 'should i' or 'shouldn't i' but i'm fairly certain Cooper will be fine (at least after some time). The photos of multiple animals together just make me want to adopt another pet that much faster. |

And you'll have the 'should I? Shouldn't I?' debate with yourself right until you've done it, lol. But you will do it and, after the first few days thinking 'what have I done?!' you'll be really glad you did it. Dogs are pack animals after all. |
Great, so now I'll be 3rd in the pack. I wish i could change the thread to "I'm definitely getting another dog" |

Also, what's really ironic is that she called my vet while i was there. Cooper had something of an emergency appointment. While I was meeting with the vet I was interrupted because the said that Yorkie Haven Rescue was on the phone and should they release information. What are the chances?? |
3 Attachment(s) Yorkie Haven Rescue called and they may have a sweet little 6 month old girl available soon. However, my partner wants to wait until the end of the summer before adoption. I'm ready yesterday. What do you think of the photos? She's cute huh with that huge tongue LOL! She's 6 months and about 5.5 pounds. How big do you think she will get? |
Well, Karen, I have 5 and would have more if i could. I will never just have an only dog. They are sooooooooooooo much happier having playmates. I definitely think you need another one! :D You are going to have soooooooooooooo much fun dressing up a little girl!! Rescues are great and also retired breeders. If you need help, i have bunches of breeder friends and I love shopping for furbabies! |

She is cute...looks like a yorkie mix to me. If you don't know much about her background or where she came from, she could get a lot bigger. None of mine stopped growing until they were about 18 months old. Whichever one you decide on, just remember to do everything for Cooper first...feed, pet, groom, kiss, greet, give treats, pick up...everything first so that he doesn't think he is being replaced. That will probably last about a month and then it won't be so important but it will make a difference when you first bring a new furbaby home. It will also establish where he is in your pack. I am sooo excited for you girl! You will love having another furkid!! Get out the Victoria Secret so that your partner will let you get one NOW!! :D |
I just got a new baby girl. My boy, Doobie, is very spoiled and loves attention! He did NOT react very well to MJ's arrival! It's been a month and he is now adjusting. Think of it as adding a new baby to the family. The existing child will be curious but at the same time jealous! Doobie did not pay any attention to MJ the first two weeks. Around the third week, he started coming around a bit. He would sniff her and when she tried playing with him, he'd give a bit of attention but then jumped up on the couch minutes later ... now, they play together for about 20 minutes 3 times a day! She is growing on him and he is realizing he is still loved very much. Worst of all is that MJ is hypoglycemic and required alot of attention so Doobie didnt get as much attention as Iwould have liked to give him but now she is doing much better and he has all the attention back :D Hope this helps you!! |
Thank you! |
I have an idea. how close is the rescue dog to your home? Can you set up a play date to see how they get along? When you do choose to bring in a new dog allow yourself some alone time with your current dog so he can adjust from only child to multi furchild syndrome. lol. We went for several months w/o letting the new addition sleep in our bed it was a combo of didn't think the puppy could hold it all night and needing to let our big girl know she was still our baby. The turn of events between the dogs took place on their own. My female is more then happy to hand things over to the puppy she spoils him all on her own. She lets him eat first and even sits back and allows him to rush to us first. She knows shes still our special girl and doesn't seam to be put out at all. We waited 5 years before I got the want another dog itch. The first week was tuff. My older dog wanted to play with the puppy and I was afraid he was too small. But by week two they were playing tag and hide and go seek. Now you can't separate them w/o there being issues. Sugar my female has depression when my male goes to the groomers or the vet w/o her. |
