Puppy in the window I was at the mall yesterday and went into the pet store to get some treats for Rex. Well my plans changed very quickly. a little head shot up and we looked eyes. He’s a japanese chin. The little guy was just laying there in his hard plastic bed with a towel in it and poop all over the floor with no toys to play with. So I had to cuddle him. I asked the guy at the counter if I could see him. 4 months old and the cutest little thing stuck behind a window all day. He just cuddled right up with me stuck his nose right into my neck and I just fell in love and gave my all these little kisses. So THEN I start to ask the question and the answers he kept giving me were pissing me off more and more and I could tell he was getting annoyed . Poor baby I HATE pet stores! I really wanted to take him home with me and give Rex a brother. This is were the get there puppies from. The Hunte Corporation - Where Puppies Come First . i feel like I let the little guy down buy not taking him :( |
I fully appreciate what you're saying and that's why I keep away from pet stores. Besides if we buy from them, we are only encouraging puppy mills. So sad though for the poor little pup.:( |
I know it's hard, but we just can't support these places. If we keep buying from them they will keep producing. There is only one way to stop them. It's all about the dollar for these people. So yes you could have saved one, but by not buying him you may save more. |
wow that website has the best worded BS ive ever read |

Oh - I just hate it that I read this - I get so upset and confused. I totally understand the concept of not buying because these puppies will just be replaced with others and we are lining the pockets of these horrible breeders. But I wonder (and am probably going to be sorry I asked) what happens to these puppies if they are not sold. I often wonder if they are being bought by money hungry people who will just breed them to try to make money. If they will be bought anyway, why not by someone who will have them spayed/neutered and give them a good loving home rather than someone who is no better than the people that put them there. I feel like it's not their fault and they are the ones being punished. Kind of like a child lets say whos parents spend their money for drugs and don't have money for food. We give them free breakfasts and lunches in school so that they don't go hungry but doesn't that let the parents have more money for drugs (not sure if that is a good example, but I hope what I'm saying makes some sense). It breaks my heart that these poor babies sit in these cages in these windows - get taken out and played with (I know how hard it is not to - I've done it too) and then put back in these cages to just exist!! I just want to take these people and stick them in a cage in the window and let them see what its like. How can they be so heartless....OMG - sorry - I just get soooo mad - and needed to vent!!!! WHEW....got to go try to catch my breath...fingers need a break!!! |
I understand what your saying...both my mutt and yorkie are rescues...but if those pups are not bought...what then...it is a definate catch-22:rolleyes: for those of us who love dogs...sigh...Humane society, SICSA, and Animal Resource Center will always be where my babies come from...Unless there is ever another Fizz running the streets. I am still appalled that no one ever called and claimed this little sweetie. I will love him for a long time. (I repeat!!! microchip and tag your dog!!!) Mine are. |
pet stores where i live dont sell dogs anymore One day I walked into our local pet store (in the mall of all places ) and was walking past the dogs as usual and passed a " designer dog" a cocker/bischon mix ugly little white blob so i passed her by then something in my brain connected to what my eyes had read and i walked back. Her 900 dollar price tag had been crossed off and below it was written Free. So i stopped an employee and asked why she was free she responded She was an owner return because she was DEAF!! the owner brought her back cause the puppy was DEAF can you imagine!! I looked to my left and these HORRIBLE looking people were pointing at her and talking softly i stepped a little closer to them and heard them say..i wonder how she'll fair on the farm with the tractors OMG a deaf dog on a farm! Well all my dogs are sign lang. trained anyhow so i yanked out my phone and called my sister ASAP she said GET HER!!!!! I walked up to the sales lady and said I want that dog she looked at me like i was NUTS and staryted to talk to me all slow like i was stupid i was 22ish at the time. I was like lady i realize the dog is deaf ide like to take her home NOW please. well after a long car ride home where she got sick in the car drooled ALL OVER my leg was scared out of her mind of EVERYONE but me guess what IF THAT DOGS DEAF IM THE QUEEN OF ENGLAD shes not deaf shes just a PUPPY for gods sake she dosent listen DUH that was about three years ago the pet store was shut down due to " economy " and our little white blob ( Rosey ) is not deaf and as cute as can be. shes my nieces dog now but she still gets extra excited when she sees me. She knows i saved her that day |

I found this poem a while back and its so sad but somehow we have to stop the cycle. I cant and wont step foot in any store that sells puppies. I have adopted a female that spent 7 years in a cage breeding and it breaks my heart to think about the life she led. The breeder told me she had never once left her cage...never been to a vet...never been held...just bred :( PET STORE PUPPY I'm a little puppy, so cuddly, sweet and small I live inside a cage, you see at a Pet Store in the mall. I'm not an only puppy, my sisters are all here. My brothers, too, except for onewho died 'cause he was scared. It's lonely here at nighttime when all the lights go dark, We tremble in our cages and we whimper and we bark. But no one comes to hold us or pet our fears away. We sit all night in terror til the store opens the next day. We don't remember mama, left so far behind. she did the best she could for us til Man said "It is time" He crammed us all in cages too small for us you see. We rode for hours; we could not help but lay in poop and pee. And now we sit in a pet store where kids come to taunt and squeeze. They do not hear our whimpers or understand our pleas. We're miserable and it's scary here; we all would rather die. But since we don't we do our best to run away and hide. I know you think my story too sad to leave me be. You want to take me home with you, a happy little puppy. But please, though it is fearful to live here against our will. If you take me that leaves a spot another pup will fill. You CAN stop our suffering but NOT by taking us home. You must be strong and leave us here, unsold and all alone. For if you do not take me, then another pup won't come. And maybe he will not be shipped so far away from home. Though some of us may not survive the cycle 'ere it falls. If we DON'T sell, they will NOT need more puppies in these halls. And if they need NO puppies, then the Man will NOT bring more. Eventually, it CAN all STOP! You CAN close the door. So when you see a puppy face so sad and sweet and small. In a cage at a pet store at your neighborhood shopping mall. The best thing you can do for him is leave him sitting there. That is the best way you can tell all dogs how much you care. - Author Unknown |
When I look at a puppy in a pet store, I can't get all the images of the breeder dogs and the horrible abuse done to them out of my mind. The sickening stories of the bad health, neglect and emotionally wrecked dogs breaks my heart. What the pet stores do with the puppies that aren't selling well is them same as Kohl's does with blouses that aren't selling, lower the price until they get sold. They will go below cost. But they will also try to re-coop as much profit or cost as they can, first. It is a catch-22. |

Might want to remove that "DURR". Unless you're 12, that has no place while addressing a question another member is asking. That is uncalled for to the poster you are addressing. Who comes onto a forum with such an attitude like that? Geez! I'm a little appalled right now. |

Gosh, I had to keep hitting the "edit" button to censor what I was saying because I couldn't really believe that and I didn't want to, well.. you know, break any rules......but I guess I'm out of the loop because I haven't seen anything she's ever said before. At least now I know to be on guard. ;) |

Not really THAT bad, but the tone, really, I mean come on! With only 7 posts, it's not so daunting to look at their previous posts. |

Yeah, that's a troll. No doubt in my mind. That person knows exactly which buttons to push to get a reaction. I hate that on every forum I go on, it always seems to work with the majority of people too. Hopefully this person will get bored and move on. The "Heinz 57" comment. Yeah, come on...as if that were even remotely serious? It was meant to be "clever" and make people angry. Oyyyy. |
