I do understand about all that, That I why I was giving up on puppies and asked about a vascectomy and then the bashing started

Great! So you are wanting to spay your female & neuter your male! Wise decision, you will love and enjoy them just the same, without all the headaches that breeding can entail. How old is your male?

No bashing was exhibited by YT members, just advice. Maybe not the advice and/or support you were expecting. But, good advice based on the knowledge they have obtained from other YT members, vets, and canine behaviorists and trainers.

Mmmm on your Zeke being able to perform basic instinctual canine behavior as an intact dog would. Again, you are transposing your male human desires to your dog. My advice to you is research the ramifications of this thought process, medical, behavioral changes, as well as the injury your dog could incur.

Keep in mind, canines only mate for procreation purposes. There action is not based on desire. The do not have the same thought process as other mammals with higher thought process.

Think about it the only time a dog really seeks out a female dog when she is in Season. The reason is because the female emits a scent as an attraction to the male. This scent is only there when she is fertile and can concieve.

Exactly! Not sure why you quoted me, I was commending the OP for making a wise decision about spay/neuter.

Maybe she will read your post and understand that her male will not behave any differently being altered as far as his desire.

I understand that this advice maybe offensive to you. However, it was given because of the passion of YT members have for animals. If you stick around, which I hope you do, you'll discover the reason behind this passion.

I am in no way discouraging you from breeding or nuetering your dog or spaying your female. I only encourage you to obtain as much information that you possibly can, on canine behavior, yorkies, spay/nuetering, breeding whelping. There is a lot of info out there.

I know you came here to have questions answered and believe me we will attempt to answer those questions. They may not reach you in the way you want to hear them....but, strip that away and see that we only have your dog's welfare at heart.

Never underestimate the powers of a woman. When a female is in Season, she will invoke her feminine wiles to provke her main goal, Procreate. And yes, she can provoke an altered male. I strongly advice that you not let this happen. It is very dangerous for your male. Especially, if such an act takes place without you taking a hands on approach to the act. A female, especially a virgin female is experiencing all these harmonal feelings, while she wants to complete the act, she really doesn't understand them. So, she can become aggressive, drag the male around and injur him....and horribly.

Well then I suppose we both have our own opinions. I'm sorry, but when someone makes light of a situation and jokes about how they 'just want their dog to experience the pleasures of sex'...that's exactly how it comes across--as something not being taken seriously.

So, "putting the past behind" as you said. Yes, a neutered male will still on occasion try to mount an unspayed female in heat. As far as your fiend's dog having complications from 'not having sex.' I find that a bit hard to believe. IF it is the case, neutering the dog would have solved the problem...so, not a valid argument.

SInce your male is older, it might take awhile for the testarone to get out of his system, so he may try to mate, but it will do no good.

But it is dangerous for the male to try, even if he can not reproduce!
