Sorry, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit! This is something I don't understand about some breeders. Why, after they have used the dog for breeding do they sell it off if they love yorkies soooo much? I have seen so many yorkies end up in rescues because people had used them for breeding and now I guess they aren't making them any money. Since the dog has given the best years of it's life and so many litters, isn't the best thing to do is care for them the rest of their days? Sorry if this is offensive to any good breeders.

didn't know you could "show" a mixed breed. but regardless i don't think there is a single breed out there that will fit the bill 100% they all want to be near you and that's what makes a dog... a dog. the loyalty and protectivness and the only way they show that is through barking when they feel their territory has been invaded. i would definately not get a dog if you don't want barking, because ever the Basenji - the barless dog- makes noises liek whines and growls and such. do the future pup a favor and really re-examine the "need" for a dog.

I'm sorry to offend anyone. I have loved yorkies all of my life and the only way my husband would agree to let me have one is if I could get a litter a year out of them to sell. After she didn't get her teeth we decided not to use her for breeding. It would be totally irresponsible to breed her when she is going to pass on poor genetics. However, she did end up preg. This will be her first and only litter. She's not retired breeding stock. We love her dearly: but, but my husband says that our agreement was that she would have to be able to breed so she must go. It breaks my heart, but we don't have a big enough home to support a ton of dogs. My dogs probably get more love than alot of yours. I stay home all day with them, and don't leave them home alone all day and only care about them the couple hours I'm home in the evening. This is very hard for me and don't need to be critisized

I'm sorry but I HARDLY think that your dogs get more love than many of ours, since your dog is being bred despite poor genetics and then sold like property after only 6 weeks with her pups :thumbdown Our babies are our families, regardless of how much money we spend on them or how much money they make for us.

We had a sheltie and though we loved him dearly, I would not have another one. He really didn't like anyone but my son and me. Not even my grown children and husband. He REALLY didn't like children. He did shed quite a lot. Was a very picky eater. He seemed to always be a nervous type dog.
All of these traits got worse as he got older. He got kind of mean. He never actually bit anyone, but he sure acted like he was going to. Meter readers, etc, were afraid of him. Even my grown children who he had been around all of his life said he acted like he wanted to bite them when they drove up.

If your husband says that the only way you can have a dog is if she makes money, then you should just get fish. If you care about yorkies, that's what I think you should do. IMO that's a bad reason to become a breeder. You have already been irresponsible (your words) for passing on bad genetics by breeding her. Many breeders keep a dog even if she's not of breeding quality and just get her fixed. If you love her so much, then why are you pushing her out the door after she's given you such a gift? It's already hard enough to find a GOOD loving home for an older dog. Are you going to even get her fixed or is she going to end up being the next person's cash cow? I am sorry, but I think that is a funny way to show how much a person loves dogs. IMO if you don't have enough time or "home" to support dogs, then I don't think you should be a breeder. I am sorry if I seem a little bit mean. But just read this thread.

I joined YT to avoid all of the negativity that i seen on all of the other sites toward other people. I've never posted on another site bc it seemed that no matter what people typed they got attacked. I'm sorry you don't like the choice I've had to make. You've voiced your opinion now drop it. Madie is very much a part of our life and we do love her. And I never stated that we didn't have time for her. Since my yorkies me they are with me constantly. I work in my home and they are always in the same room as I. I say that our house isn't big enough because I don't beleave in keeping dogs in a kennel or small pen and ours our aloud to run the house. Four is plenty to keep up with, since we have three children. I'm suffering enough heart break from having to do this with out being attacked by everyone. Madie is a young dog and we do expect to have her fixed after she has weaned her pups. Our dogs are far from abused, and we are trying to prevent poor breeding. Yes she is bred now and if you read some of the posting on the breeders page you will see that accedents happen. I'm sure that, yes there are breeders out there who get their dogs fixed and keep them, but I'm sure there are ones here that have also had to sell a dog. They just won't pipe up bc they don't want to be attacked.

She sounds very sweet...why don't you just spay her and keep her? What's four more little paws? More to love! :)
