Save Dogs from an Illinois Puppy Mill Please sign this petition for puppy mill dogs in Kankakee County, Illinois. They are called the St. Anne 53 because they came from a trainer park shed in a trailer park called St. Anne. These dogs had no medical treatment and needed seizure medication, amputations, and emergency spays to save their lives, among other things. The two women responsible will not face criminal charges and may even get these dogs back. One of the women has been charged with this before and actually went to jail. The humane society is hoping for 5,000 signatures to send to the Illinois governor. Yorkies are included in this seizure. Millie, a yorkie, needed an amputation for a previously broken leg that was not taken care of. Please sign this petition for the South Suburban Humane Society! http://www.thepetitionsite.com/194/justice-for-the-st-annes-53 Thank you! |
I just signed! Pretty close to home and I remember when this all went down a few months back. Let me know if there is anything more that I can do. I know a few of the legislators in Springfield ;) The one that was charged previously is she from the Peotone bust when the Yorkies all went to PAWS in Tinley Park? |
Absolutely I started a thread about this when the story first broke...It is horrible And I hope they get the book thrown at them! I am in Kenosha Wi, So I'm just over the border and get both Chicago news and Milwaukee. And I'm sad to say its not getting as much air time as it deserves...this lady makes me sooo mad!! I have signed the petition And will be following this story further. Thank you for posting this. |
I don't know about the Peotone incident. She was charged with criminal charges for animal abuse in Joliet. Not sure where the animals she had went. They included dogs, cats and, I believe, birds. Definitely contact Lisa Madigan, Pat Quinn and any IL representatives you can. I've written to Lisa Madigan asking her to push the IL Ag Dept to revoke their kennel license. I beg you to do the same! Any connections you have, please use them. These women should not get these dogs back. Thank you for signing! They have been doing business as Adrian's Puppy Paradise online. There are some pretty bad reviews online of smelly conditions, not being able to view the puppy's parents, puppy dying after purchase, etc. |
I will PM Nancy and see if we can get this out to all of the members of YAP tomorrow. Lisa Madigan is great! I love her! I do think the women that you are talking about are the same ones that were in trouble a few years back. I remember when it happened the PAWS by my house had so much help with all of the Yorkies and other dogs that came in. It was just horrible! They need the book thrown at them for sure! If I was the one doing the throwing it wouldn't be pretty! |

Edited - I DID sign - they sure could make it easier but it worked |
It would be great if Nancy can get this out to even more people. Thank you all for signing. Lisa Madigan is supposed to be for animal rights, so I'm hoping her office does something. You're right, this hasn't been getting the attention it deserves. Maybe getting comments into the "letters to the editor" section of newspapers will help. I believe the next court appearance is going to be in May. I haven't heard from the SSHS yet as to when, but I keep checking. They have also asked that people show up on the court date to protest against these women getting the dogs back. One foster parent (on the petition site) said that they can't give the dogs all the medical treatment they need until their fate is decided. Poor dogs! |
I signed it and I am from England! |

I also signed, but I would not be bragging about knowing any of the theives down in Springfield or in Chicago. Nothing but self serving do nothings. This State is falling apart. |
I live in IL and I just signed. I work in an office that's political and we have contact with the governor etc. at times. I'm going to see if I can write a letter and have the president sign it on our letter head. Maybe that will help too. Quote:

I signed, too. I hope they don't disregard the petition because of out-of-staters. |

I signed and lectured.:) |
I signed it too - they are a long way from the 5,000 signatures needed. I think I was 794 or 795. |
I'm from Canada but still signed. Laws need to be changed desperately. |
I signed it and also wrote a letter where permitted. Our society that treats these innocent creatures as chattel is barbaric and disgusts me. |
Signed it! |
I signed :) |

Done...Thanks Nancy for the heads up |
I will sign it too. The shelter I volunteer at alerted us to this and asked us to send an email to the Governor of Illinois on this and puppymills. I did and got a response from him yesterday( I know it was not really from him but at least his staff is getting this) Here's the email I got back. We still have a long way to go before they really GET it: Dear Patti, Thank you for contacting my office with your concerns about pet breeders. I always have and always will support the humane treatment of all pets and am committed to working with members of the General Assembly to protect our animal friends. Based on issues that you raised, today my staff worked with Rep. Lisa Dugan to draft and introduce a bill to improve the licensing rules for breeders in Illinois. House Bill 6854sets a higher standard for people seeking to obtain pet breeder licenses from the Illinois Department of Agriculture. It will allow the State to consider certain past criminal convictions when issuing breeder licenses. I have also been working closely with the Illinois Humane Society and am in full support of House Bill 5772, which would create stricter disclosure requirements for all pet store owners in our State. These bills protect our pets and empower consumers with the information they need to make smart decisions about animal ownership. Once again, thank you for sharing your concerns with me about this important issue. Citizen participation is critical to the democratic process in this state and today, your voice was heard. Sincerely, Pat Quinn Governor |
