I would of grabed him too. You didnt know these people. and so you never know what they will do. I dont let strangers hold mine. They always want to but I refuse to let them. Theres so many germs out there I just done take the chance. |
I would have done it too!!. Of course I am totally paranoid, I pick up Olivia and hold her before I let anyone pet her, and No one will EVER be able to hold her but ME! |
People ask me about mine all the time too and want to hold them, particularly Lacey, my tiny. I'm not about put mine in a situation where they could be taken, so no you did the right thing. |
I guess I'm far to careful with my two furbabies. You certainly did the right thing to open that door.........I only let people hold my babies on MY turf, I can get pretty territorial over Gracie and Booda, glad it worked out OK for you this time.................. |
O no No way i would have hung on the window if i thought that my baby was going to be stolen.I mean there are a lot of weird people out there and a yorkie is so expensive that i can see someone doing that. You did the right thing. You still have your baby and what if they were telling the truth better safe than sorry.Besides do you think that you will ever see them again? That must have scared you to death!!! Not to mention the fact that they were complete strangers! YES, they certainly should have told you what the heck they were doing!!!! I would have paniced too!!! |
With the weirdos out there today, you definitely didn't over react. There was a story on here a while back about a yorkie that was stolen from the owner's lap! I just tell people that I don't want holding Olivia that I don't let other people hold her. When she wants to get down, she gets really wiggly and kicky. I'm used to this and know how to handle the situation. I have no doubt that this reaction would be unexpected to a stranger and she would end up on the ground on her head. I figure it's no more rude to say you don't let others hold her than it is for a complete stranger to ask to hold your dog. I was always taught not to be so pushy and forward with other people's things, pets, or babies- petting is one thing, holding is another. I actually had a young girl try to grab Olivia from my arms once! Hello child- where the heck are your parents?! I could have slapped her! Back off my dog! |
Absolutely not! I know I would not have been able to think that quickly and would have been crazy for weeks reliving it any which way it turned out. |
YIKES!!!! Thankfully you have your baby back! I would suggest never doing that again   . S C A R E Y !!!! |
No you aren't crazy! I'm from DC, but live in Texas now and trust me....you meet all kinds there. They know how to run "game". Plenty of folks always admire my boys, but no one has ever asked me to hold my dogs and I would never let them. I always say, he's skittish or wouldn't be comfortable being picked up. But it's the ol' evil eye that I give them that lets it be known....."Don't even try it!" :p |
No, if anything you are very nice. I don't let anyone hold my girls when we are out. I had a woman tell me I was B!@#$ because we were in Petco and I wouldn't let her pick Lexi up. Heck I don't even let most people touch her when we are out. My sister had her s**tzu stolen like that, so now I'm just a mean paranoid phycho...LOL |
I think I would have done the same thing if a moment of insane "niceness" overcame and I handed my baby over to someone in a car. But then I'm known for doing crazy things. I stood in the middle of a large Sears store once and scream, "My two year old is lost in this store and the store won't help me find him!" I warned them first, but they weren't doing anything. Customers were guarding entrances and searching fitting rooms for me, but the store wasn't doing a thing. Within 60 seconds of my scream, he was found. Security people came out of the woodwork. And I used to write my name and social security number on my baby when the weather was really bad. When I was a teenager my high school blew away in a tornado and there was a family nearby whose baby was separated from them for hours because the people who found the unharmed baby didn't know whose he was. I guess I'm just A LITTLE bit over protective. |
I think you're crazy for letting your baby out of your arms to someone elses. You didn't know these people from Adam. You should be more careful. |
