confused...Is is true? Today at the dog park, I met a lady with a yorkie and he was her service dog. He had light silver backing and was very cute. She told me that he is a stud and he was 4 years old. She got him for free from a breeder in Sacramento because the breeder had too many dogs. However, her son knew the breeder so he got it for free from his son. The catch was that they had to let them use him as a stud. The lady kept telling me that he is yorkie but he is "silky breed", which is what his breeder told her. Is there such thing????? I thought all yorkies are yorkies but they just are all very different. She also told me that the "silky breed" live longer and can be bred until 8 years of age. I was shocked when I heard this because I thought that they should only be bred from 2-4 years old.:confused::confused: I decided to come here from some accuracies. She was a really nice lady. She even offered to stud him for free with my Emma, but she is too young and small in size. Well, overall, dog park today was great, I got a FREE puppia harness and poop bag with a case from this very nice old man because he got extras. :D:p |
Wow, I am sure this person thought she was right.. |

Since they didn't appear to be to knowledgeable about the breed I bet they were confusing silky coat with what he technically is called. I don't like the fact that the breeder gave him away but wants rights to continue to use him as a stud. I would have respected her a little more if she had him neutered then found him a great home. Because as far as she knows the person she gave him to could be pimping him out to every maltese and pomeranian in town. |

Females are retired at age 5. Boys have a longer breeding life. Other questions you could have asked was he AKC registered....26 off spring is not outrages. My 7 year old boy has been used 7 times and has a total of 17 offspring. |

Sounds like the person was sadly misinformed. (Scary.) |

What's up with all of these people trying to stud out their males? This is the third time this week  I know this was a serious question but I really don't get it. Although this woman at the dog park had a good story to tell~service dog, special situation ;);)......aka at the bar and the "doctor" with the "jet plane" wanting to buy you a drink  |
people think because your pet is not fixed that must mean you want to breed them i get offers for Gatsby to stud all the time i respond by telling them he is not fixed because every time the vet have had to use a even so much as a sedative on him his heart stops think about what being put out for hours could do to him and you want a puppy like that the scary thing is the people who tell me that "it wont pass on" people are stupid |
I hear a bunch of crap at the dog park, too. "My dog is a teacup this" or "my friend has a teacup that." I think I have a permanent crease in my tongue from having to bite it. I also see some things that horrify me. A family -- Dad, Mom, two girls -- had a VERY tiny one on the big dog side of the park, when one of the girls announced that she was going to throw the little one in the water to see what would happen. The pond was about 50 yards or so away. The two girls took off running, one was barely holding on to the little thing while it bounced around in her arm (yes, only holding with one arm, not two). The parents casually followed while this kid threw the little thing in the water. I've also seen someone holding a very tiny and it squirming to get down. They couldn't be bothered to bend over and put it down on the ground .... they just tossed it from chest high. I've met a lot of wonderful people and wonderful dogs there, but some really leave me gobsmacked. |

okay the one about the dog parks really ticks me off as I have two dogs and we were looking for a third we did research and decided we wanted one from a rescue. Due to my children's age we could not get one, they would not even talk to me or see my kids. I realize not all kids are good fits for small dogs but just because you are older you may not be good with small dogs either. At that dog park was very irresponsible owners and there children and now that family is the example people see. I have to say everyone can make a mistake but there are children out there that would be good with dogs and people like that ruin if for the rest of us. Sorry needed to vent. (We ended up buying puppy)Feeling bad for the little rescue ones out there that needed a good loving home. |
She probably meant silky coat yorkie because from what I know, there's silky and cotton coat yorkies. |
