Considering you can't guarantee what a mixed breed will look like or act like so how can you know that's the breed you want? |
I encourage anyone who is supporting bad/poor breeding to hang out in a shelter and a rescue. Make sure it's a kill shelter you are hanging out at as well. |
If you get extremely nasty, you will be suspended or banned. Just a heads up. |

Agreed. This is a problem that is bigger than just me or you. It's all of the millions of dogs euthanized every year. It is directly related to people breeding dogs when there are plenty of good ones in the shelters. But the argument stands at what people want. I want this, I want that, I want a puppy, I want what I want. I will justify it by any means. Or, you can't tell me what I can or cannot buy. I can spend my money however I wish. It's all true. But look at what that is saying. Pretty selfish if you ask me. I try to help with the pet overpopulation problem. I volunteer with rescue. I try to educate people. I probably won't ever purchase another dog in my life, but rescue them? Oh yes. |

Nope my last yorkie was a foster who I ended up adopting. |
That's fine. Now are you going to reprimand all of the other Yorkie owners on this forum who bought their dog(s) from a breeder? |
Nope, bc of those that did, they either know better now and try to spread the word, or they purchased from reputable breeders. The remainder still try to justify their actions. |

Say I'm looking for a Morkie puppy, and I can't find one at a shelter. I check out some local breeders. None of the breeders look very good. They all sound shady. I expand my search and decide to look for a breeder further out. I find one that is experienced, and just so happens to be a veterinarian. I ask questions and like what I hear. I drive 6 hours to go get the dog from a breeder that I feel I can trust. It turns out that she is experienced and that she is trustworthy, and clearly treats her dogs like gold. The parents are healthy and wonderful, and so are the pups. But I'm such a terrible, stupid human being, aren't I? After all, the pup I ended up purchasing is a mixed breed. Oh, the horror! If only it was a purebred, then maybe it could be justified! |

Put it this way buying a mixed breed isn't bad. Paying outrageous amounts is. Most ppl who breeded mixed "exotics" are in the for the money. Reason?? Why else breed?? No reason to. Just have puppies?? I was on a 2 1/2 yr waiting list for a breeder to breed her next Show dog. I bought the one who didn't make the cut. What I get is all the breeding linage, heath checks ect. Nothing wrong with mixed breed dogs. I had some. My problem is ppl who purposely breed them. Its for money. Period. A mixed breed dog shouldn't cost more then a Champion show dog pup. But like i said before . Go to any purebred forum.. most will have the same opinions. But to the op. IMO $350 for a Morki no shots. Only u know its worth it. If you want it get it. But $1k or any outrageous amount. Hell no |

She is trustworthy. She has healthy dogs. She is a veterinarian. She offers a health guarantee. She even said she wanted to know how the pup was doing. That is the dictionary definition of reputable, right there. Whether you like it or not. Pick up a dictionary, read the definition, and get over yourself. Oh, by the way, I went through AT LEAST a dozen breeders before I chose the woman I got Louie from. I called them all, talked to them for a good while, and did some digging. I'm not a freaking idiot, and I wouldn't want to support a crappy breeder, either. |

Yes, people breed for money. However, that doesn't mean they don't care about their dogs and where their pups go. In many cases, yea, I'm sure the breeders don't care. They're jerks. But the ones who do care are just fine. |

I want to be clear here no one is calling you an idiot. A lot of us here got our dogs from bad breeders before we knew better. Mine came from a puppy mill and I have had to watch her suffer from several genetic issues due to poor breeding. I looked into her little eyes after her first surgery and I promised her that I would do anything I could to stop bad breeding and to stop more pups from having to suffer. Besides the fact that it is a said rule that reputable breeders don't breed mixes with mixes there is no breed club there is no one setting the standard no one setting the rules and that can be very bad. |

You can say all you want, but I know she's a good person, and a good breeder. Whether she's up to your standards makes no difference to me. |
