Where does your Yorkie sleep? Was wondering where everyone allows their yorkie to sleep? Trudy sleeps in my bed everynight. Always burying herself deep under the covers! Is this the normal? |
This sounds normal to me, I have 3 yorkies and 1 maltese that are all in my bed with me :) |
In the bed under the covers... they go to bed long before I do. :D |
I can't wait until Bailey is housetrained so I can trust her to sleep with me. |
Was curious, because have been advised not too. But I wouldn't want it any other way! :) |
Twinkie does the exact same thing. She has to be wherever her mommy is! In the morning I wake up to several kisses and she tries to scratch the covers off of me, so I get out of bed! What a little booger! ;) |
My two have always slept with me. Muffin alternates between the top of the covers to under the covers next to me. Boomer sleeps next to my pillow on a fleese blanket. They sure are sleepers....my little 8 mo olds. I wake up before them and have to drag them out of bed most mornings. If it's a weekend I get lots of kisses first thing in the morning. |
Anywhere I fall asleep. If I fall asleep on the floor watching a movie, he's curled up right next to me. :) |
my pup isnt a yorkie, but she sleeps with me every night - i mean right up next to me with my arm wrapped around her! my husband says, i wish you'd hold me like that! haha. stacy - i had planned on having my pup sleep in her crate until she was housetrained, but i couldn't stand the nonstop whining. i started letting her sleep with me - figuring she would get up to squat if she had to potty and i'd feel it if she got up - and she's never had an accident in my bed. i also take her food/water and put it away appx. 3 hours before bedtime, but i don't feed freely - i do it on a schedule. it doesn't matter if i wake up at 6am or 10am - she lies there right under my arm until i wake up - and that's when i take her outside. i guess if she really had to go and couldn't wait - she'd wiggle out of my arms to squat - and i'd know to take her out. i have plenty of accidents during the day in my house, but never one in the bed! just saying - incase you'd like to try it. |
Yorkie or not, it's just sweet that you love your baby like you do. Kaji and I fall asleep like that sometimes, but he shifts a lot. Sometimes I wake up with him curled up under my knees (I sleep on my side), in my arms, and my absolute favorite, I have woken up to a nice furry butt in my face. |
Roxy sleeps w/us. She prefers on top of the covers with her back up against either of us. When she's up against me, she will remain there until I move/turn over. Then she'll go to over to dh. When he moves, she comes back over to me. She of course, is free to shift her position at any time, in any way... but we must lay still and not disturb her it seems. Her royal highness must get her rest, you see! : ) |
These are great! Thanks for sharing. Trudy also lays under the covers until she thinks I am getting up. Then she races down her stairs to be the first one out of bed! So even if I move around too much she then thinks I am getting up, so she races down them anyway! |

I may try to see what she does. |
good point. i wonder though - with dog's instincts and all? i don't think she would jump that far for sure - but fall? hmm. i think she would have to be dead asleep to do that. if you really wanted to, they make these things you can put on the side of your bed for babies so they wont roll out - they're really cheap - you could find one at a yard sale - heck, i threw mine away! not being pushy - some people don't want their dogs to sleep with them! i just like it - it's the best part of the day for my pup - she goes nuts when she knows i'm going to bed! i think it's made us bond a lot. |
Jackson sleeps in bed with me every night. He sleeps in a little round dog bed at the foot of the bed (yes, a bed ON the bed... spoiled?) but sometimes he will curl up closer to me. I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. Growing up, our families dogs always slept in my parents bed, my grandparents, etc. I don't have a family memebr that doesn't allow a dog on the bed. |
my grandmother always let her dog sleep in the bed with her (and us when i was there). i loved it. my husband has always said he hates dogs (i think he means those dogs that are penned in a back yard and bark all the time cus they're starved for attention). or my mom's dog who barks and jumps on you every time you walk in the door - i don't care for those types either! anyhow - i was amazed when he was on board with getting a dog - and SHOCKED when he didn't say a word about her sleeping with us! he even tries to get her to sleep with him now if i'm not ready for bed! |
mine sleeps in my bed with me. They FIGHT me for my covers!!! I don't particularly let them to go into my covers because my bf said it's not good for them. I bought them blankets for them, but no, they want mine! |
Zuri, he always slept vs me... but i try to train him to sleep his bed. @ midnight he jumped and slept om my bed again. 555 always like this.. |
I guess I am in the minority here. :( DBF is dead-set against Roxie sleeping in the bed with us. She also doesn't like going up the stairs, so she sleeps in the living room. She has her bed and blankets inside her playpen, and she is perfectly happy sleeping there at night. |

Samy sleeps in his bed at night which is in the room next to our bedroom. We close the door and turn off the light in his room. He also sleeps in his bed when we are not at home but with the light on. We got him used to it from day one as I used to get rashes when Karolina slept with us in bed (maybe because she would come under the covers and lay fully against my back). But either day, my doctor said I am allergic to dog saliva so I had to be careful. And my husband does not like the idea of sleeping with a dog in bed most of the time. When we got Samy he had to sleep in his bed as he was sooo tiny - we could crush him with one wrong move. If we have been away from home and get back late at night, we take Samy in our bed as he would not fall asleep otherwise (he usually sleeps all though the time we are not at home so he is not sleepy when we get back, but as soon as he is in bed with us, he calls asleep). Also on weekends, we take him in the bed in the morning and he sleeps in with us. During the day Samy would sleep on my lap or the pillow next to me on the couch. |

It is good that Samy loves his bed - big, cousy, puffy and warm :) |
Bailey sleeps in my bed, where I go he goes! |

We started with Okie he is a Maltese. We got him when he was 4 years old. We tried to put him in our bed but he would bite my boyfriend if he came any where near me. We got Okie with a crate and he loved his crate (still does, I think he loves it to much and many times in the day time I shut the door so he cant get in) So it was off to the crate at night time for Okie after the boyfriend was bit about 4 times. Then I found Cricket (Yorkie) he was 2 when I got him. He had already suffered a broken leg when he was a puppy from falling off a chair. He didn't come with a crate, I had to buy a crate on the way to bringing him home since he was all over my car and mostly at my feet and I was the driver! Thank goodness there was a Pet-smart up the street, I put Cricket in a cart and went in the store to get a crate, he jumped out of the cart! Landed on the cement floor! He was ok... sheww Cricket is not very cuddly as far as holding him, he will sit in your lap a few seconds but then he has to jump down and go find a toy for you to try and get from him LOL I haven't tried to put him in the bed yet, he is to busy and I am scared he could get hurt jumping down, or I wouldn't want to roll over him. He wasn't crate trained but with time he has learned to be ok with it. Still we have some nights when you say bed time and he runs the wrong way! But that's Cricket ! |
Miss Zoey sleeps in her kennel, on my bed, with my covers over her kennel. She loves sleeping like that and that is the only way because she is a terror and would destroy the house if left unwatched. |
Rio sleeps in bed with my DH and me. We have a King bed and her little 3lb. body takes up 80% of the bed and my hubby and I have learned to sleep on the edge on either side of her! She has a kennel with the door off in our bedroom in case she ever wants to sleep in there but she prefers to sleep with us. She sleeps on top of the covers though - I worry that she's cold but we always have the thermostat set to at least 74 all night. We also have beds all over the house for her to take her naps during the day but she usually sleeps in her special spot on the sofa. |
