Puppy mill busted I am glad to see that law enforcement is going after these criminals who treat dogs so poorly. This is the third one in this area in 3 months. I checked out their website and they breed yorkies. I will be contacting the sheriff to see if they are up for adoption at the shelter. Here is the story: Kennel Investigated After Reports Of Animal Deaths - Winston-Salem News Story - WXII The Triad So if anyone else in the area is looking to adopt, please look into these poor guys and gals. |
So glad to see another Puppymill closed down  I'm hoping they are all treated medically and placed into wonderful loving forever home. Do you have a link to the website that you referred to? I would like to take a look at it too. |
I sure do. Sadly it looks really nice from the outside:mad:. Rush Kennel Home As far as their treatment it seems the Sheriffs office did a stand up job on trying to save what they rescued, and tried really hard to save the one that they bought undercover(unsuccessfully). They are paying for life saving surgeries on a few of the rescues. I don't know the details, but that is what I read. |
I would also like to note that people are innocent until proven guilty, but from what I have read this was a good call by the county. |
where is that? I'm in Jacksonville. |
Greensboro area. |

Do you know if any rescues have come forward to help? :( |
I don't know, but I intend to give the shelter a call tomorrow to see if they have any news or adoptions available. |
There is a greyhound rescue here, and they do a really good job, but as for the rest of the breeds I don't know of any rescues. |
Thank god an other one down... |
It just gets worse. I went to ripoffreport.com (http://www.ripoffreport.com/Animal-A...-sol-zb62f.htm) and looked at the complaints, and there are tons, and on BBB too. The owner of the kennel was apparently on a wife swap reality show so here is the link: First off, I know because I was born here, the accents are not NC accents, so please no stereotypes about the south or NC. Second, why cant the USDA regulate this business like they do cattle or fowl. I am politically conservative, but I do believe that regulation is needed and should be enforced to end the suffering of animals. I believe that animals should not suffer no matter what their intended use is. There are humane ways to deal with animals that are used as food, and there is certainly no excuse to treat animals being raised as pets so horribly. |
One of the articles had bloggers responding. Sounds like guilford county needs to check this out, too. Maybe they'll have a chance to shut another one down. One blog read That's nothing to complain about. That's little compared to a kennel in Pleasent Garden on Edgemont st behind a house This man breeds the dogs in very nasty conditions then sells them. This place is not clean the dogs have knots in their fur and some are in real bad shape. Someone should rescue those poor dogs! So I sent anyone & everyone I could think of in that county an e-mail to please check on this. Don't know if they will respond. |
Kind of makes you wonder where the dogs were when all the tv cameras were there? Did they just not notice 98 dogs? I'm glad the authorities are involved and I hope all of those dogs get the care they deserve. |

I too am thrilled she has been shut down, hope and pray she is not allowed to own dogs again! |

The video was just outrageous! Let me say I might not have been a happy camper eating out of a trash can but mouth sure spoke volumes of the type of person that she is. Add to that the body language~:p If you look at 9:09 you can see a bunch of building in the background~probably where all of the dogs were kept. Love how the "house dogs" were kept in luxury but sounds like the breeding stock lived in misery. :( Pretty amazing that an entire film crew was there for 2 weeks and didn't notice anything like ummmm 100 dogs living in an outbuilding? What a disguising piece of work. I love how she said that she spent $300 a week on her dogs and that her husband worked 80 hours a week to keep her in luxury. Wow! |

I was wondering the same thing! They probably have the kennel away from their home in the country. The house seemed to be in a city neighborhood. Funny how they didn't mention or film the kennel in the video. I did see it advertised on her SUV. I'm glad it's being shut down. |

Not that any of this mean a thing but I just happened to notice all of the contradictions which made the entire clip even more outrageous. |
UGH! I will never understand people who can operate puppymills, but how this lady can decide that some of the dogs are worthy of being pampered and the rest are basically nothing but money makers who deserve to live with LESS than what is even considered humane. I just can't wrap my head around it. Even worse, I'm guessing the mill dogs fund the lifestyle of the "house" dogs. Sick to my stomach. I also have a really hard time believing that the flim crews didn't notice nearly 100 other dogs in all the time that they were there. I would think the barking alone coming from that many dogs would have been cause for suspicion. Come on! |

:thumbup::thumbup: I watched it again and realize that was their property in the very beginning. That other house was where the husband was working on the air condtioner unit outside. The six are spoiled and the rest (in the kennels) fund their lifestyle... Outrageous! |

I would think if could be pretty easy to have 98 dogs if there were several litters of puppies and adult dogs. If there were say 8 or 10 females all with a litter the numbers could add up pretty quickly. That is in addition to the 8 she had inside her house. It's like a Cinderella story with the evil stepmother and all privileged children and the castoffs living in squaller. Let's hope that all find homes that will treat them with love now that they are out of her clutches. |

$100,000 could have been spent on the health care for the dogs in the kennels. She must have been making serious bucks on the sale of those poor puppies through the internet. |

[QUOTE]A Guilford County animal kennel was raided after deputies reported multiple complaints from customers who said the dog's they'd purchased became sick and in some cases died. Sheriff BJ Barnes said deputies executed a search warrant on Wednesday at Rush Kennels on Maple Wood Street. Prior to obtaining the warrant, Barnes said undercover investigators purchased a dog from the kennel and discovered that the animal had a life-threatening disease and a birth defect. "The dog purchased by the undercover officers soon died of what is believed to be the same diseases and infections that some of the other complainants' pets had died of," Barnes said in a news release. As a result of the search, 98 dogs were removed from the kennel and are being cared for at the Guilford County Animal Shelter. "Several of these animals were found to be in poor health and two of the dogs had emergency surgery today," Barnes said. "Investigators will continue examining the health and welfare of the dogs and analyzing other evidence recovered to determine if any criminal charges are to be made."/QUOTE] |
[quote=megansmomma;3077384]Well I think that the article that was posted pretty much says the opposite of anyone spending $100,000 on healthcare of those in the "kennel". Take a look below~doesn't sound like much was done for the health of their dogs. :thumbdown Quote:

Well what makes it really sad as well is the counter at the bottom of their web site over 80,00 views what if just a 1/4 of those people got puppies....thats alot of breeding.:( |
The owner and caretaker were both charged with animal cruelty today, so hopefully there will be 98 counts on each, but unfortunately, our penalties are weak. Hopefully the judge will come down as hard as they can. |
This woman and her stupid husband are disgusting...I hope they get what they deserve. I think its so weird that she loves her inside dogs  she is nuts |

You are right, they are being held at Guilford County animal shelter as evidence. At least they will be well cared for until the trial. This is pretty big local news so a lot of them will get adopted after it is all over hopefully. |

This lady is a piece of work. Way back when I was looking for my first Yorkie I contacted her and she was rude and a complete b**** to me. I asked for pics of the parents and she told me that the puppies won't look like them, I asked if she did any health testing and she said that she did, but when I asked which health tests she got rude and basically told me to kiss off in so many words. I have never been to her "facility" but I know people who have bought pups from her that are sick. She is terrible and thank God somebody finally brought her down! |
