I really enjoyed your venting:)but I totally understand your frustration as I'm sure all YT's can relate.Your experience souned like my Easter Sunday so I had to snicker. I have 3 yorkies, a 6lb , 3.5lb and a new 5 month old biewer puppy. I took them for a walk to the beach, set up a chair and relaxed. Then it started. Is the little one a tea cup, are they related, is the little one a baby, why is one black and white, why does the differnt looking one have a tail, why 3, how much did they cost? The little one is a tea cup...yup...you say she is 2 years old...she is small, you have a tea cup their. The little tea cup was probably the most money..huh...she cost the most..ya know her being a tea cup in all. Mom!!! come see the tea cup puppy!!! (I really wanted to light myself on fire) Why does the black & white one have a tail..she is a what???..a biewer..that's not a yorkie...yorkies don't have tails? So she is a biewer and not a yorkie....hmmm never heard of them, she is wierd looking...ooh sorry...didn't mean wierd just differnt with her long body and snout in all. Will she be a tea cup too? Uthhhhhh..... this went on for an hour and I was exhasted:( |

They don't only do this with Yorkies and it is irritating. I have a runt Chihuahua as well as the regular ones and people constantly ask the Tea Cup question. Sometimes I am nice and ignore it and sometimes I get on my soap box. To me the rudest question is ...how much did you pay for that dog? My response would be "I will tell you that if you tell me how much you weigh and what size clothes you wear" Those are personal -intimate questions and any idiot should know better than to ask. I do have a fella at work that fits that bill and he asked what I had to pay for Bella. I just said...that nunya. Nunya business! |
I guess I look @ things differently. When my skinkids were little and adorable I LOVED taking them out & when people came up to me to comment how cute they were, how old is he...etc. now that I have allie it brings me back to those days. I enjoy the attention that she gets from being cute and don't mind answering questions. I'm not trying to sound mean or anything but IMO , If I'm not in the mood to be social I will leave her at home. |
Completely understood this vent and you have every right to feel this way! I thought the bite on command comment was hilarious and I have 2 small children! Other people's kids annoy the crap out of me because they haven't been trained like my 2 have on how to properly approach a dog (any dog) especially my neighbors daughter who has 2 huge labs and proceeds to man handle my 3 little dogs when she is over! Loved this post! Thought it was hilarious and every word true!! |

I'm sure most of use weren't aware there's no such thing as a teacup until we join this forum or did our homework. There's allot of info out there and people don't know whats right or wrong they see teacups for sale so obviously they think there's such thing as teacups. Why get mad at them, I actually enjoy people coming up to me and asking question. I can inform them what little I know and questions like how much I will go about answering them it all depends on the breeder. You can always say you don't remember. So why do you people get mad at others who use the word teacup when you don't want to be bother with a few simple questions. Not everyone knows about the Yorkie Associations and the breed standards. I know it frustrating but you can't really blame them for wanting to learn about one of the cutest creatures of this planet. JMHO For the OP I'm sorry but why not send them to YT and tell them all the info is here. They'll get the point, plus it's good for your baby to socialize. |

my kids usually try to run up to every dog they see in public. i've always told them NO because you don't know if a dog will bite. also, i didn't want them to think it was okay to run up to dogs incase there was a stray - they would know to stay away. usually when i tell them no - the owner will say something like, "it's okay" or "she won't bite" and then i'll let them pet. if they don't say anything (which i can't remember if that's happened) then i would keep going. UNFORTUNATELY, not everyone has enough sense to keep their kids from running up to every dog they see. if you take a little dog like that out in public - people are going to approach you. they probably think since you're somewhere like the park that you don't mind. maybe you can sit farther away from where people walk by - or put the puppy in something (like a basket ) where they may not see it. and when someone asks how much it cost - tell them what i told my daughter when she asked me for help on "guess how many are in the jar" game - "more than a hundred and less than a thousand." ....or million...or whatever. that way you don't have to answer, but you don't seem rude. some people wouldn't find that question offensive so they don't know it would offend others. i wouldn't mind answering that question if someone asked me, but i know that some people would - so i wouldn't ask it. |

Instead of or including "Teacup yorkies", we now have "Spider Yorkies" thanks to "Joey the amazing Spider Yorkie" who mysteriously appears at the end of October! Donna |
