MadDeDo | 04-05-2010 07:00 AM | 4 Attachment(s) My mom's dog was rescued from a neighbor 9 years ago. They had a female shih tzu that they bred, and she had a litter of pups. The mom and puppies were kept OUTSIDE in a cat carrier, covered in fleas, it was horrible...but that's another story. All the puppies died from parvo except one...she was the last one left and the neighbor asked us to come look at her (at the time we didn't even know she had puppies), and we could not leave her with those horrible people. We wanted to rescue the mother too but she wouldn't let us have her. We were told that the father was a Yorkie. She didn't really look like a Yorkie OR a shih tzu, but she was the cutest puppy. She has been my mom's baby now for 9 years and they are inseparable. She sleeps with her head on my mom's pillow every night. :) My parents are divorced now, but my dad actually ended up taking the mother when the people moved out (they brought her over and said if he didn't take her they would take her to the pound!). Anyways, a couple years ago for Christmas I bought my mom the wisdom test so we could use it on Teddie and find out what breeds she REALLY is...and the results came back 90% Shih Tzu???? We collectively agree that it must be wrong...because although Teddie has a few shih tzu features and we know that's what her mother is...she also has some features that are not AT ALL shih tzu. She has more of a terrier personality and terrier hair. She looks 100% different from her mother. I suppose the father could have been a terrier/shih tzu MIX and maybe she is 75% tzu, but I just can't see it. I will always wonder if it was accurate. I think I paid about $80 for the test. Here are a couple pictures of my mom's Teddie Bear...:D |
