OK this just changed my mind. I'll go with the laminate. |
Mine have accidents all the time and I do not have a problem because they were sealed.. |
We have had wood for two years now. I Love it! It is a light blonde oak. I like dings and scratches I think it gives it the character I want to have. My two grand children have scratched it as well, but with the light color it isn't an eye sore. I have had a much easier time training Celine with the wood floor. Personally I would reccommend wood floors. |
We have hardwood floor, tile and laminate in our house. The hardwood doesn't scratch with the yorkies at all. But anything bigger than that will as we have 2 bigger dogs that leave scratches all the time. We recently installed the laminate and love it. It is so easy to care for and looks great. Not even the bigger dogs can scratch it. |
We have oak floors thoughout our entire house with the exception of the kitchen and bathrooms and we absolutely love it. Our floors have never been scratched by our yorkie....but my sister's two labs did manage to scratch her wood floors. I would recommend wood floors...very easy to take care of. :animal-pa |
I've heard that pergo stuff works well...from people who actually have it, not just the commercials with the huge great dane (that is what type of dog it is, right?). |
I have the hardwood floors from the 1920s as well. No scratches, except the ones I've made by accident. Thor also does the "yabba dabba do" on them, AND when he chases things down the hallway, he skids several feet before he comes to a halt. I can hear those little nails screeching, but I don't see any damage. He really has it down to a science. I say, get really good, protected hardwood floors, and enjoy all the extra cuteness. :D |
i wouldn't worry as much about the scratching as the pee (if that's an issue for you). when wood floors get wet, they swell. something i hated about my hardwood floors is the fact i could see every speck of dirt - and dirt gets stuck into the grooves between the wood pieces. not a huge problem unless of course pee is an issue - there's no way to keep it from seeping into those cracks which = permanent smell. |
All rooms are Oak with the exception of the Bathrooms and laundry room. The Yorkie does not make any scratches, but the 125 pound Corso does not scratch, he gouges...I mean gouges with his massive and powerful nails. Someday, we will need to resand all of the floors, stain, and polyurathane. If it was just the Yorkie, they would look brand new and they are only 5 years old. Now if she does have an accident she will pick out a nice hand woven Oriental! Why would she foe on the floor when there are comfotable wool rugs around? If we had to do it over, we would have went with Travertine Tile on the first floor. |

i guess if soft spots aren't available, they'll go where they can go! but if given a choice - they'll go on that nice soft place - regardless of the price! |

We just ripped up all our wall to wall carpet and refinished our pine floors. Looks beautiful and not one scratch from the girls. Wish I had done that a long time ago. |
