Pregnant with a yorkie!!! So I was wondering who on here was pregnant while they also had their yorkie(s)?? I was wondering what you did, if you did anything special, to help prepare your pooch for the new comer of the family? My boyfriend and I are suprisingly pregnant, and while Martini loves when my friends babies come to visit, I just dont want her to feel left out or jealous when we have a baby. |
Hi; When I was pregnant with my son 6 years ago, we were concerned of how our 4 pomeranian will react when we were bring our baby home. We ask the vet and he told us as soon the baby was born to take the blanket or hat from the baby and let them smell it. My husband did this for two days and when we brought the baby home, we let them smell him. Everything turn out fine, the famale use to watch him sleep and as soon he started crying she would start barking to let me know he was up. Now my son love them and they love my son. Good luck and congratulation!! |

On a serious note, I don't have children and can't, but if I could I would choose not to anyways. My yorkies are attached at my hip and I don't think they would understand my attention being taken away from them. When we have wee ones visit, they don't much like me holding the wee ones, much less even talking to them. But I have made them that way due to the fact I don't have children so they get spoiled rotten!:D |

yes...one baby will def be enough...even though my baby won't come until late fall...and martini would be getting pregnant in the summer...I was thinking about breeding her just once or twice..but now...it'll just be too much work with a big belly! haha...i just like to make him think i still want to and get a rise out of him!!! |

You say Martini is always in your lap ... I had a German Shepherd at the time I was last pregnant. He used to curl up on the couch with me, head in my lap. After a while, I no longer had much of a lap, so he had his head on my belly. Well, by this time, Leslie was pretty active, and turning somersaults, which annoyed him no end. He raise his head, look at my belly, put his head back down, get another kick in the chops, look again ... finally he'd just sigh in disgust and turn around, putting his (tail) in my lap instead :D When she was born, it was almost like he already knew her. He was used to her heartbeat, I guess, the sound of her. So maybe it's not a bad thing Martini wants to share lap space :) Congrats! If I knew then what I know now .... well, at least Yorkies don't beg you for money to go the the mall or ask for the car keys :p |
