I am SHOCKED!!!! So I listened to everyones advice and did what works best for me and for the night time. What I did was put DJ in a playpen outside my bedroom door and with a comfy bed, toys, food water and his pad and put a blanket over the side of the playpen where he sleeps to make him feel more secure. After I put him to bed I expected to hear him cry but didnt. I feel asleep and didnt hear him for hours, then I worked up in the middle of the night and stil heard nothing. At this point I thought something was wrong because its not like him to cry. I went to the playpen he saw me and woke up and he had went to the bathroom on the pad and no where else yay and so then I fed him and then put him back in and went back to sleep. Hours later again I woke up and still heard nothing...went to check on him and he woke up bc he saw me. He made it though the night!!!! No crying!!!! No mess anywhere but right on his pad!!!!!!!!!!! I am shocked!!! Absolutly baffled!! I cant believe it!!!! I had a good night rest!!!!!! |
Glad that you listened to some of the advice that people gave you. Believe it or not, some actually do know what they are talking about. :) This is a great place to get answers to questions that you have about your little ones. Hopefully these same folks have given you some of the same good advice on any other questions that you may had. |
Well Congratultions on a great night. He sounds like he is adjusting pretty well. :thumbup: |
Great news!:) |
So glad you had a great night and all is well:) You found what worked for you..yay!!! |

That's a wonderful news, DJ learns pretty fast! :) |
yay! hope you gave give extra kisses for being so brave and extra huggies:D |
:dogzzz::dogzzz::dogzzz:Great news!:dogzzz::dogzzz::dogzzz: |
I am glad that it worked out for you. Every dog is different and I guess part of it is getting to know what works for your dog!;) That's why listening to different opinions is a good thing I think. |
Spiritwings is so very right....I think only the mommy knows her dog the most and can go with what she feels right. The VERY knowledgable people here are only giving you their opinions based on their experiences...they are not trying to make the rules for you!! You just have to read what everyone says and make something work for you and your baby. I have learned so much here from these great people.....and I would definately take action based on opinions from these people before I would from a book...If I were a breeder myself, I would recommend joining YT as part of the deal!! YT is what I would call your 1 Stop website!!:thumbup::aimeeyork;):cool: |
Its a crazy thing. It just clicked in his head and he stopped crying. He knowes who his mommy is now and he knowes his name. I think he knowes I will do anything for that cutie pie!!! i think its just a sense of comfort with him now. This makes me so happy!! :D |
and Im still waiting for his little heart beat pet thing for him. Hes really gonna be really happy when he gets that thing. |
Congrats on getting some sleep. Good job DJ |
ANOTHER full night of rest for me. This pup is amazing!!! Man, people made it out to seem like this pup was going to keep me up for WEEKS/MONTHS....oh pllllllllleasee! This has been a very easy enjoyable road for me. :) |

people gave you ideas - and obviously good ones ...I would think you'd be thanking them yes ? |

By no means is raising a puppy easy. I just saw a couple of threads by you saying how he is peeing and pooping all over.. So see, it isn't all so easy and enjoyable. Your just in your first week.hehe:D |

Enjoyable road? Holy Moly it's just begun. WAIT! This phase dosen't sound very nice. After all, people here are only trying to help in any way they can. THe plllllllllleasee was very unnecessary. If your baby is sleeping through the night that's wonderful but that does not necessarly mean it will continue to happen. Consider yourself lucky and leave it at that. |

lol Lucky digs and grunts then digs and grunts sometimes a growl will come out of him if it isn't completely hidden!! He has no consideration for the time either....And I REFUSE to take his ramp away from our bed.:(...so, we put up with it!! :rolleyes: |
I'm glad you have found something that works for you now. When your puppy is older, you might want to crate train, and this is where you keep him in a small crate with just enough room in it to stand up and turn around in. Because it's so small, he will not want to pee in it, and the puppy will endure discomfort and even pain, in order not to soil his bed. Because you don't want him to endure any pain, you have to be ready to wake up every three hours to place him on a pad or outside. This is the period of time where many people say, you will be sleepy, and not get a full nights sleep. So right now, you are just doing what a breeder would be doing, but as your puppy gets older, you will be doing what pet owners do, and you have to be ready to get up every couple of hours. I kept Joey in an x-pen in the day time, and he used the pee pad, but I couldn't really call him pee pad trained until he learned to seek out the pee pad, when he was in the larger room, and crate training speeds this process because you put them on the pad, during the middle of the night and first thing in the morning. |
Your yorkie is adorable! |
