Hi Janet, welcome to Yorkietalk! What do you mean, "I received rude comments from someone telling me to stop advertising my "rat/hamster"? Someone at YT said that to you? While we do have a few pot stirrers, we have so many wonderful people here who love Yorkies. Joey was called a rat several times, but it was usually by me, lol, when he was a puppy and put his ears back, I could have sworn one of his relatives mated with a rat! Concerning feeding, Joey's breeder recommended free feeding until the age of 6-8 months. Yorkies have growth spurts and when they are puppies their appetites vary from day to day, and many people believe in giving as much kibble as they want during this period. They don't believe that puppies can get too fat, and will only eat what is necessary. I think a little tummy on a puppy is a good thing, if they do get sick and can't eat for a couple of days, they've got a little fat to hold them over. Four times a day does seem like a good amount of food, how much do you feed each time? | Hi !
I've realized that there are lots of wonderful and helpful people on this site ! The comment was made on my profile page by this lady. I was just suprised because I didn't think anyone on this site who loved their pet would ever make negative comments about someone else's dog !
About the feeding, I was free feeding him but when I took Gucci to the vet for a checkup he told me I was over feeding, so that worried me a little. When I do feed him it seems he wants more even after he's finished all of it, because he goes back to the food bowl and lick it. He does this several times. I feed him 30 little Kibbles of Royal Canin babydog 30, 4 times a day. I don't know if this is enough ! |
