Now that the nice weather is here and I find Saphira has too much energy all balled up in that teeny body I thought now would be a perfect time to go for walks. Well the first time I put a leash on her she would not move so I thought I just had to get her used to walking with a leash. She will not walk! She puts her little brakes on and plops her tiny tush down. Yesterday after trying to walk her for almost 1/2hr and getting nowhere I turned around to come home and surprise...she trotted all the way home without any problems. So I've realized that it isn't the leash she wants nothing to do with...it's the walk!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get her to walk? She likes to go out because she is fine in my bag with all her blankets...but the diva won't walk on her own 4 feet

That's funny

. Lots of animals are that way ... they don't want to "go", but they will lead the way when it's time to head back home. Perhaps you can fool her by carrying her the distance out, but having her walk back? Eventually she'll want to do both legs of the walk, once she gets used to the smells and stuff.

BTW, what's she walking on? If she's spent her whole life on carpet and grass, concrete may feel alien to her. And watch her little feet when summer comes and the concrete gets hot ... she'll burn her tootsies.

Thanks for the advice. That was the only thing I thought of as well...carrying her out and walking back home.
I have hard wood floors and she goes outside on the concrete to do her business so she is used to the concrete.
Anyways, thanks for the suggestion I will try it and see how it goes

Keep working at it. She sounds like she's right on schedule. : ) Most pups do this for awhile. She'll get over it. It's all new to her yet.

That's cute! She'll be ok. You should have seen Kacee the first time I put a harness on her. She took off in ten directions at the same time trying to get out of it. She was even jumping in the air. Guess what her favorite thing to do is now? Yes. Walking. She can't take too many walks in fact according to her!

Keep going. Cerise did this for the first couple of days and now she beats me to the door. We've been together for about 3 and 1/2 weekd now. And she doesn't want to come home, that's when the little boss puts on her brakes...she looks so funny, but mommy is big boss.

She will get there. Then before you know it she will be the one asking you for walks..lol. It is just different for them to be in new areas.

That's what my little boss does when I try to get her out. They are just too precious...I can't help but laugh.
Cerise...how do you pronounce that? Like cherry in french? I really like it!
