We have Darwin in a crate right beside me. In the beginning he barked so I talked softly to him and dangled my hand near the crate. He's now perfect at night and is happy to go to bed. Good luck! |

Hi :) well to be honest Taylor doesn't bark at all unles it's a serious game of attack! and she sleeps outside by herself and only comes in to the room in the morning to say hello. But your dog sounds like she has seperation anxiety...I know that sounds crazy but it's possible. Taylor cries sometimes in the morning to come in but hardly ever barks. I suggest going online and doing some research or looking through older Yorkie posts and seeing if there are any old ones discussing barking or seperation anxiety. |
I guess putting her in your bed didn't work either. Is your dog paper trained or does she go outside to pee? I would try to cure the barking by putting her by your bed at night so she is close to you and then letting her outside every time she barks and going straight back to bed. It may take some time but she should figure out that barking at night tells you that she needs to pee (the only reason I believe a dog should bark at night). She will realize that her barking doesn't get her what she wants but there is something that does happen consistently when she barks as apposed to just being told to stop. These little Yorkies are too smart for our own good sometimes:p she should get it quickly that her barking at night only results in one thing and it isn't what she wants. ;) I hope this helps. Mind you I am being trained right now by my little diva:rolleyes: they're too much :p... gotta love em!:) |
yWicket and Teddy both sleep in crates by my side of the bed, wicket has always had to lick my fingers through the crate before he will settle down and when bad storms come through he will start whining I'll reach down and stick my fingers through his crate he will lick them and settle back down. we have done this since he was 15 weeks old he is now 3yrs old, I just act like it was one of my kids when they were little they just need a little security. Teddy and Wicket both have a inner alarm clocks in their head between 5:30 and 6:00 they start of with a very low whine it grows louder and louder until I finally get up always 15 mins after they start. it doesn't matter what time we go to bed either. when they do sleep on the bed wicket is always in the small of my back as close as he can get and Teddy is always on top of my head his paws resting on my forhead.between my eyes. if I move him he will snuggle his way back to his spot top of my head. we treat them as babies or small kids and they act like it in ever way from throwing fits when they don't get their way, having their hair wash, making them eat the food that good for them, trying to make then behave when company comes which they never do, and making them go to bed at night mine even have a night lite. There barking is there one voice, happy, sad, mad, laughing, and screaming at the top of their lungs, just like kids and the only sound I didn't like to hear was when mine kids would cry because they were hurt, same with Wicket and Teddy if they cry when one gets hurts from playing to rough or they get their feelings hurt I am always their to give them a kiss and hug to make it all better. |
