acceptable to bring a dog to the mall. I have bella for a couple of months now. Since winter is almost over and i want to bring her out more often like to the mall, Is it acceptable. Will the store owner have a problem bringing their yorkie on the carrier. I sometimes bring her to michaels or joann's( big scrapbook fanatic) and the staff are giving me this nasty look. Share your stories and experiences please. |
I've taken Missy into Old Navy (to get a rain coat, hoodies and toys for her) and had no problem. The people who work there said she was so cute. Hey, I would not have been in there spending money if it wasn't for her so I'm glad they're nice. :D |
I just got a Kwigy Bo Carrier and will be smuggling Snickers into places now:)!!! I would not just have my dog out in the open, most public places do not allow pets (well in MI at least.) I tried out the carrier with Snick this past weekend at the doggy mall (where dogs are allowed) and he did well. I think we will try Target next!:) Some places are more lenient, many places will give you dirty looks and kick you out!! Be Careful:) Snick & Viv |
We bring Derby to the mall ALL the time and he's 10 pounds now! the carrier we have is enclosed, and the kind that is acceptable to bring on the train. It has wheels, so it can be like a rolling suitcase, but it can also be a backpack style. It zips up all the way. It's mesh so you can tell there is a dog in there, but there's no way he jumps out. I think because of that store owners are more than likely to allow the dog in the store because he is confined. I think it also depends on your attitude... I've seen people try to bring their pets in as if it was a baby (in their arms, in the carts etc), but you have to remember it is a PET ... and some people don't allow it. I've never had a problem, ever since I bought that carrier. Keep in mind we can also zip down the tip so he can stick his head out, and he quite likes that. If someone has a problem with it, we zip it back up. |

We did okay in all shops (except the Post office), but I never went into stores that sold food items. |
I straight up will not shop somewhere if they won't allow my Lucy in :) I don't let her down, she doesn't touch anything. She's either in her little carrier or my arms. It's okay if they don't let us in, I just won't spend my money there :) :heart toKandi |

I almost brought my babies into Joann's, but they have a sign that indicate no pets...so I had to put them back in the car. I got kicked out of walmarts with them and I was in the dog section...It sucks that not many places allow dogs... |
I keep track of places where they let me take Roxy. I like to go to those places more than others. I have taken her in 2 malls. Westmoreland and Monroeville, which are near me. Nobody has a problem unless security sees me... lol. Or unless I'm in the food court. They dont like Roxy at the food court, but as long as I stay in the stores, they dont say anything, usually. I have no problem taking her to some Burlingtons, and then I had 1 guy tell me once, an assistant manager, tell me to remember "next time, dont bring the dog", and I said... "well, then next time I will remember not to bring my $400 spending self as well." :D All the employees and visitors loved her tho, she stays in the cart in her carrier, and on her leash so nobody can grab her up. I have taken her in WalMart too altho it is not allowed and Ive been told on several occassions. So, I started putting her in her little pink stroller, and putting a blanket over the front. :D I got away with it too... until Roxy started barking once... lol They let her in Michaels, and my bank, S&T actually asks me to bring her all the time. They just love her... Old Navy, Macy's... Really, it depends on who is working and how they feel about it. I've gone places one day where they absolutely fawned over Roxy, then the next time one of the managers would say she had to go. (GetGo, Panera Bread, TJ Maxx, Burlington, America's Best, a few I cant remember) When I am not sure if she is allowed, I pull the old stroller out and the blanket so that ppl think I just have a sleeping baby. lol, but usually they are cool with her in a carrier. They love her at Hot Topic.... lol Ive thought about moving to France.... lol... in France youre even allowed to bring your dogs to restaurants and eat at the table!!! They consider dogs family... just how it should be. :) |
Well since im new to having a puppy i never even thought of my little jukka not being allowed anywhere...lol i just bring him....so far he has went to the bank 2 pet stores target and wal mart..no issues yet...lol I dunno if its different state to state but Florida seems ok so far...fingers crossed :animal-pa |
I say if the mall (or anywhere else) allows them, then take them...if they don't allow them, then don't. :p I like my dogs, and all Yorkies, but I understand why and agree with stores and public establishments not allowing them and when that's the case, I think the policy should be followed. Not all dogs are UTD on vaccinations, not all dogs are well groomed and behaved. Kind of hard to draw the line and allow some and restrict the others. :) |
I am in Sarasota FL and have had our Maltese in Walmart several times. However we were kicked out the last two times we tried. It seems to be an issue with food, and the store can get fined. My daughter worked at Walmart at the time and she suggested I get a vest for the dog so he could be a service dog then they are allowed everywhere! Home Depot never cares if I bring a dog with me and i see other dogs there often. |
I wish I could take my Max everywhere with me but there isn't many places that welcome him :( We have been to Petsmart and he loves the fuss he gets from everyone!;) There seems to be a lot of places beginning to slowly allow Pets such as the holiday (his first) we have just booked to the beach. There are some pubs and cafes that allow him in! So excited. |

Our mall doesn't allow them, but two stores in the mall do! :confuse2: The mall has a Moochie & Co. & a photography studio and you can bring them in there! |

I do the same, if they tell me my dog is not welcome, then my money is not welcome either. Like I told the man at Burlington. I know how a lot of ppl feel about dogs being in public places, but I feel the same way about their children, and they can bring them anywhere. When I went into America's Best, there were these 3 kids running around touching ALL the glasses and knocking things down, and they had dirty faces. What if one of those kids bit me? What if they had a disease? lol. You dont take your kids out if they behave badly, you dont take your dogs out if they behave badly. If theyre clean, well taken care of, and you have proof of shots and have them under control, take em out. :D My Roxy and Lexi are way cleaner than snot nosed kids... lol... and better behaved at that. |
Target and Wal-Mart won't let them in, Ross has a rule that if they are confined in a carrier and not walking on the floor, then they are allowed. We take the girls to all the Malls and shopping centers and have never been told we couldn't. Of course we are respectful of the stores and keep them in their stroller. |
When Buddy was a puppy I took him to the mall walking him in my granddaughter's carriage. She always wanted to walk so in he went. No one every said anything to me. He got too big so now he can't go:( I swore I would socialize him any way I could. But this didn't work for long. |

To the original poster... I've taken Troy to church and to a few stores like target and etc. I think anywhere that doesn't have food is ok to taken ur furkid. I did church as an experiment and noone even noticed he was in his bag but I doubt I'd do it again. |
Saphira loves to shop I bring Saphira everywhere with me. I don't think I have ever left her at home. I put her in my bag and off we go. :D She is the best little traveller. :) I have never had a problem with bringing her anywhere...although nobody ever knows she's there;) |
lol lol we went this weekend to a street rod run and funny we went to the little house in ga. well we went for the tour axel was in his purse bag, i didn't know the first part was guided and he took us in a room to watch a movie and don't you know when they turned the lites out axel start barking I about died so our we went my husband wanted to kill me I could just tell.. ha ha! so i took him out to the car and craked the windows it was only 65 degrees ( or i would have stayed out there with him) anyway! live and learn guess my baby is afraid of the dark! |

Some places allow pets, I usually go up to the counter and ask if it's ok and if they say yes I bring him in. For all the crafty people, Hobby Lobby has no problem with pets, Capone gets so much attention there. I take him to run errands like the bank, firestone, cafes where you can eat outdoors near the sidewalk usually allow them to sit at your feet while you eat. Sometimes I get looks from people, but Capone loves the attention and I don't care about the crazy looks from other customers. |
