To the OP, I take my Farrah to hand therapy twice a week. They love her. And with all the strange people there, she is getting a lot of socialization. I can't wait to sneak her into a movie in her Kwigy-Bo carrier. Problem is she jumps around in it like crazy. LOL |

I've taken our three girls to outlet malls in their stroller here in Palm Desert and nobody's said a word. At home, in Alberta Canada I've seen others in department stores with their small dogs in a shopping cart and it seems to be acceptable. :D |

Why would you want a Great Dane in a boutique standing on the floor and in the way? A Yorkie in someone's arms, carrier bag, or stroller is NOT the same thing. Thank goodness I live in a city that has malls that cater to small dog lovers who shop with their dogs. They lay out the red carpet for us but I do have one complaint. They need to teach some of their employees to keep their mouths shut about thinking we are crazy. They have the NERVE to want us to make a purchase so they can get the commission or credit on the sale but look at us with disgust. If the business says it's okay then that means treat dog carrying customers with respect and give good customer service! I will not spend money in a low or high end boutique with an idiot employee wanting my money but rolling their eyes and talking trash! |
I live in a small town in TN and take Tessa into most places in town, but I have found that it depends on who is working! And during the week I have never had any problems, only on week-ends! I even take her into my Kroger grocery store! But as I replied to another post, I now have a Lamaze baby sling I put her in and she just cuddles down and goes to sleep! Everyone thinks I have a baby in it since it covers her up! |

My daughter was afraid of dogs too. I cannot see how, we had a 90lb lab mix before she was born and the dog could not have been better! My new little Farrah Girl has got some "BIG" shoes to fill! LOL The good news is that my daughter is in love with Farrah and holds her like a baby! Hee Hee. She is the only one Farrah lets her hold like that. Another odd thing is that my daughter Loved cats for the longest time and I've never owned one. Strange. |

Seriously, if I grab my keys and start towards the door, mine all hide. And I'm sure that Farrah will fill those shoes just nicely. :D Just give her time. |
We take Holly everywhere except restaurants and grocery stores. She is usually in her carrier or in my boyfriend's arms. I'm in a wheelchair, so I think people assume she is my companion dog, although no one has asked me which is surprising because we get stopped constantly so people can pet her. I would never lie if someone asked me, but a lot of security pass us in malls and in stores, and have never said anything. I don't know if it's because she's small and is being carried, or if they think she is my companion. We make it a rule to never put her down anywhere out of respect to people who may have allergies or phobias, but if someone did have a problem then we would have no problem leaving, because we know not everyone is tolerant. I think maybe if she was walking around on a leash it would be different, but because she is always being carried most people don't mind. |
still struggling on bringing my dog to stores thank you for those who replied. Its interesting how the people in the store stare at you when a dog is in sight. I went to a craft store and almost everybody were happy to see bella except the sales person. She didnt say anything but she stared at me. Well i totally ignored her. I hope there is more open minded people. |
