My First YTNR Shelter Rescue-He is a Hot Mess!

Hi everyone! tonight I got my first YTNR rescue. I got an e-mail from the CA director and within an hour I was in the car on my way to the shelter! This little guy is one hot mess let me tell you with a smell that went for miles I swear. He is very friendly but just a matted mess!:eek:

My friend and I were laughing because we had to keep the windows rolled down because he smelled so bad. :(All I know is he is a stray that was found running in a field. Poor little guy. The min. I got him home he got a bath and a blow dry immediatly. He might need to be shaved because of the mats I just don't know yet.
I can tell you that he bathed well and is very sweet. Even washing his face and ears.
I am posting the before shelter picture and will be posting some of the after pictures so you can see his adorable face! He will be put up for adoption through ytnr on their website soon and to be adopted in the Northern California Bay Area in Silicon Valley. He has to be neutured and have some vetting done he is approx 3.5 yrs old and 8.5 lbs. So if you know of anyone looking for a sweet male in this area send them my info.

Awe...bless his heart! Even in that horrible condition..he is still adorable. I hope he finds his new home soon. And bless you for helping this little one find his way to a much better life!! :)

He is going to be beautiful you can just see it. As he was lost I hope his owners find him.

He sounds like such a sweetie. Can't wait to see more pics of him all cleaned up. I have to agree with Karen, even all matted and dirty he's still adorable.

OMG he is a dead ringer for my Joey,,,,Exactly.... hair in his eyes and all. I wish you were closer that guy would be in my arms and people would think these guys were brothers....I know you will find him a very good home and God bless you for opening up your home and heart to him.......Sharon Joey and Cabella.

I volunteer for YTNR also here in NC...

It is so wonderful when you can take that poor neglected shelter yorkie and transform him into a wonderful, beautiful, healthy pet...


I wish more folks would be involved in rescue...just imagine if you had not rescued him?


Please, please, please, consider adopting a rescue yorkie...consider vounteering for a rescue group....

What a sweetie, you can see it in his face, he knows what "love" is, and he knows YOU have it! :love:

This little guy did great last night, slept well in his crate and what a doll. Not only is he handsome under all that hairy mess he is very sweet and gives lots of yorkie kisses:p
Ok on to getting his vet appointments and getting him ready for a new forever home.....:animal36

He is a little doll! Thank you for being a foster mom :) Stinky will go away after a FEW baths :rolleyes: If you do need to shave him try to head as much hair on his head as possible. I'm sure he will make someone a wonderful new furever pup. :)

Two shampoos last night and one this morning AFTER a major haircut, great smelling creme rinse and he (Rocco) smells acceptable:D I also got away with a short haircut (not a buzz or shave) on the lower half of his body, underbelly and mats on legs. I know how to cut human hair and I did I great makeover (if I do say so myself) without resorting to buzzing him. Considering the hot mess he was late last night he looks and smells great:rolleyes: New pictures to follow.:D

It is hard to get rid of that smell once it is in their hair. When I first brougth home Truman he has a bath a day and still smelled like YUCK after a week :( The haircut should help a lot to get rid of the smell. I would love to see his new pictures he sure is adorable:p

Can't wait to see the cutie under that hair. I would assume that the smell is really in his hair. So the more hair that comes off the better.

This little guy has stayed on my mind, he truly lookes just like my Joey...Can you adopt out to another state? We are in southwest VA. I know VA will not adopt out of state. It would be a very very long drive but I am thinking it might be worth it...but would it even be possible. Joey is the one in my advitar...Sharon

Hey I live in San Jose, CA! We live close by. Do you go to any nearby dog parks? Sorry, this is so off topic, but I am just so excited to see someone on YT that lives near me and have a yorkie! :D

I have taken my dogs to the dog park in Campbell. Right now honestly I have 4 dogs here and a HUGE fenced yard so I have my OWN doggie park.;)
Let me know if you would like to make a play date for the kids here or at a dog park.

Sure wish you would check local papers, vets offices, etc for a lost yorkie. I can't believe its a stray. If I were a betting person, I'd say this little guy got out & can't find his way home. Please try.

We tried to find his home...
 
We did try to find his owner and the microchip he has was never registered after he was adopted from the breeder. So one issue is a responsible pet owner should have all the ID and info up to date in case of an emergency or otherwise.

By the matted looks ( and SMELL) of him he had been out on the road for awhile.
