Congratulations on your new puppy. I would just give them time to get to know each other. They should be fine in a few weeks. :D |
First congrats on your new lil furbaby!! how exciting!! I brought Bella home 2 weeks ago, to an awaiting Shay (whom will be 1 in 4 days) I was really apprehensive, of putting them togeather...So we walked in and I set Bella down, near the ex pen (Shay in ex pen)..let them smell each other through there, as Shay barked his head off (actually first time I EVER even heard him bark)..I let that go on for a bit, then picked up Shay put Bella in pen and did whole thing again...after a couple hours I got in pen and sat with Bella in my arms and let Shay smell and run around, put Bella down...they ran around and were sleeping togeather that night...whew!!!!! They play fight and Bella will squeal, but when I secretly watch, she is one all over Shay, lol...so she dishes it out but when she has had enough, she squeals...I was stopping them, thinking Shay is hurting her, BUT min I walked away she all over Shay again..lol...lil instigator.. It will get better, I think they need to work it out on there own, of coarse with you right there, to referee.... Good luck, can't wait till you post saying things are wonderful!!! |
If you have a pen to put the new one in, keep the older dog on the outside. They can see and sniff each other but not do any harm. It will take a few days, but eventually they will get close. |

If all else fails...I live in Georgia too so you could just give the new pup to me. I have 14 week old Cooper and they should get along great...lol. I don't have any advise as I only have 1 but I wish you luck. |
My girls did the exact same thing and about the same age difference, 8 mo. & 18 wks. They need time to get used to each other. It took about 2 weeks. |

Yeah, well I can only go by what the previous owner is telling me until I receive all the paperwork. I was also told he weighed about 1 lb. He really weighs 2.6 lbs. Go figure....... |
What a difference a day makes. This morning they were still huffy at each other. By the afternoon they were running and playing together like they were best friends. Now they are both sound asleep. They are even drinking water from the same bowl at the same time. So cute!! After much discussion, DH and I named our new puppy Tyler. |
Happy to hear everything is working out. You will enjoy seeing them go after each other. |
YAY! Glad to hear it has worked out well. It took my two 4 months to go from fighting eachother to playing and licking eachother's faces each night. |
whohoooooo so happy to hear they are doing so well...... |
I would definitely give it some more time, and maybe take them to a more neutral place for more introductions...and definitely don't give one dog more attention than the other, as that will definitely cause jealousy. I wish you the best of luck!!! ...But if it doesn't work out, you may deliver the puppy to me any time ;) (Totally just kidding...hubby would KILL me!) |
