All i can say is that i agree 100%. AKC doesn't always mean you are getting the best and we can see above. CKC in my opinion is what people do for a cheaper alternative or when their animals aren't exactly i don't know how to say this...standard. Or at least that's what i get from CKC reg. I feel that people are going to think down of me and my dog b/c she isn't reg. at all. If you aren't buying a pup for breeding or showing i don't think it's much of a big deal.

Just in case Amanda misses this question, Amanda grooms them herself. I think she just starts chopping! LOL. She groomed mine for me the last time I was there and my Bentley looked soooo much better!

But she is right, I groom mine myself and yes I just start chopping until it looks even..Last year though I gave Bentley a mullet...And Kristie, I think you are forgetting that we never got to finish shaping your Bentley's head from where YOU butchered his topknot..I can't take responsibility for that...LOL!!! I mean what if when you open the pet store and I decide to move there and add a grooming salon to the store, I can't have unprofessional work in my portfoilo. JK Kristie.. Both of my dogs (from different breeders) came with CKC papers. Both of the dogs had stipulations in their sale contracts that I would be neutering them, which I did at 5 months. Bella's paperwork was conditional, i.e., I would get them after proof that she had been spayed. She was spayed right on time, but I never requested the "papers".

OK - so maybe my attitude is a bit strange. The only time papers - whether issued by AKC, CKC or any other alphabet soup organization - have any validity is if you intend to breed (and even then they have precious little behind them) or show. I *never* intend to breed dogs, and showing isn't an option, so the only "papers" they need are piddle pads ;).

I think entirely too much emphasis is put on registration. Unless your intention is to breed or show, why bother? It's a bragging point, that's all. And as has already been discussed, even if you have the "premier" AKC papers, it doesn't mean you have a "good" dog, either standard- or health- wise.

I love my little dogs - Puddie (all BOY!) with his cotton coat, teddy-bear cut and solid as a brick at 8 lbs. And Bella, cute as a button with her long, silky coat at 3.5 lbs. They're MINE, and I could give a flying fig what their papers say.

Your babies are gorgeous and don't let people upset you. It seems like you do a lot for your new parents to ensure the health of your babies even after they leave your home. :)

thanks Amanda ... I hope you are feeling better, since there are so many heartwarming stories about Puppies and where they come from ... papers or not. I couldn't love my babies more, and I won't be breeding them, anyway. Good luck to you.

There's no denying that your pups/dogs are cute! I personally could care less about papers for my dogs. I've actually never owned a dog with papers, and I've had 2 dogs at a time for the last 27 yrs. The ONLY thing that raised concern for me about your website and puppies is the fourth point on your contract which states "Puppies will go home within the 9 to 12 week age range."
Isn't this too young for puppies to be leaving their Mommy and littermates? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read over and over on this website that a good breeder will not let a toy breed puppy go home before the 12 week mark.

Please don't take this as a personal attack. I'm honestly just curious on your opinion of this, and if you feel it is OK for your puppies to go home at 9 weeks of age. I see so many people on this website getting lectured about bringing puppies home that are under 12 weeks of age. I got Missy when she weas 7.5 weeks old and it was obviously MUCH too early, and we had alot of problems, but I brought Dora home at 10.5 weeks of age, and she was fine.

You are 100% right and I appreciate you bringing that to my attention..My home page was all written by me which states they come home at 12 wks..My contract was one that I got from another YT member and then I modified it...I obviously never caught that contradiction..I will be changing it now and then double checking the whole contract to make sure I didn't miss anything else.. I cannot believe I did not catch that seeing as I just got a new template for my website...lol...Thanks again!! :)

I would not worry about what others think. You sound like a wonderful breeder and a caring person. By the way, the pics you posted of the AKC dogs - Well like we say in GA when you are being polite - Well bless their hearts! My Yorkie is CKC registered and I really don't care. We are not breeding her, she is my furbaby. I don't look at her and think she is poor yorkie white trash because she isn't AKC registered.

Everybody has different opinions and that's fine. It makes the world an interesting place to live.

from what I've seen it's much like those little human girl beauty pageants. All they have to go through to look beautiful, all the hours of practice, work, etc., is not my cup of tea.

Another thing is like a friend of mine says, "opinions are like (bleep), everybody has one." To some people, Yorkies, even purebreds are second class citizens.

When I was looking into adopting a Biewer, I joined a site that catered to those furbaby-parents to learn about breeders, etc. Now, in my book, Biewers are Yorkies, but most people in that site do not think so. It's like a sin to breed a Yorkie and a Biewer and they look down at Yorkie mixes, period.

What I got from that site and the reasons I haven't gone back, was that I didn't feel the love for the furkids was real, it felt more like a status symbol. Sort of like when young women buy a pair of new expensive shoes and want to go out that weekend to show them off to her little girl-friends. Not all the parents, mind you, but enough to make me sick.

Another thing was, the in-fighting and slandering of each other. I had made contact with a few breeders from Germany (one was a member of that site), was ready to fly a baby here from that breeder and another member sent me a private message saying how terrible this breeder was and how the baby's were sick and some died in transport.

Long story short, I researched this person and found that not only were she doing what other members condemn (breeding 'designer dogs' in secret), but was she herself condemning it in the forum:eek:. Plus, she herself bought her pups from this breeder she was bashing :rolleyes:.

The moral of my story...do what is right in your heart and never mind the opinions of others:thumbup: There will always be someone who for whatever reason, is out of touch with reality.
