Need some advice! First off, I have had a horrible morning. It was my first morning to sleep in, in a long time. I had razzled the dogs up and was taking them out to pee and all. I have cats, lots of em and they are my babies. ANYWAYS. I was letting them potty and then out of NO WHERE this huge Husky lookin something can running around our pool deck. (No one was hurt) except my CAR! He jumped all over my car trying to get to my cats. We do not have an outside dog anymore. *he passed away due to cancer* :( :( so as of late we have had a lot of trouble with my neighbors dog coming up here trying to kill the cats, the chickens, and I'll be d-word if they try to kill my dogs. Now to the advice part. We are planning to get 2 doberman pinchers in the spring. Should we keep them inside at night and out during the day? Since the only time I have had trouble with her dogs is during the day. How do I make them... run off the other dog?? And I am sure there are people on here who are against ear clipping. If you are, do not comment. But what age do you do that? And how long, what's the cost? I am sure most of you will probably be like... hmmm.. We don't have a doberman. But with any dog you get their ears clipped. Around about the cost of that and all. We had a pitbull before who was natural but I want the dobermans to look as scary as possible! LOL. Any advice/tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone <3 |
Not sure if you'll get the anwer you want on this site as it is mainly about Yorkies. |
We shall see. |
Am I still on YorkieTalk? |
Just kidding, not sure about that breed at all, you might ask your vet about the questions you have consering ears. |
I was about to say. I thought the people on this site were nice and not rude.. Thanks for clearing that up. I am going to add myself to a doberman forum and see what they say. How do you delete postings on here? |
No one is being rude, just not too familiar with that breed, as I stated, you might ask your vet about the ear concerns and even the breeder were you are getting your Dobermans. |
I can't give any advice about the clipping as I have no clue:confused: As for the neighbors dog....I would recommend meeting with your neighbor to address this problem before you add to large dogs to it. It would be awful if one of your pets was injured and you were faced with making a life or death decision on investing hundreds or even thousands of dollars to fix a pet. Does your neighbor have a fenced yard or do they keep him chained out doors? perhaps you both can invest in sharing a fence or electric fencing? |
No she doesnt. She keeps them chained or in a pen and needless to say.. THEY get out and she laughs about it. One of her dogs killed my neighbors kittens and she laughed at her and told her to put them in the house. She is the stupidest woman I have ever met. (on a literal note, she didn't graudate high school) If murder was legal I am SURE my neighbor would have killed her that day. I am asking my vet about the ear clipping. How do you delete your postings from here? |
I am sorry you felt that others were being rude to you on YT , however this is a yorkie fourm, about yorkies , and advice is given about this breed , and sometimes other breeds if people are knowledelable. Dobies are a beautiful breed . I'll I know about cropping ears is that is not necessary , and their are a lot of ethical problems doing so. Unsure as to why you want your dobies to look as scary as possible? Maybe for using more as watchdogs , and not really as pets . talk to your vet about the ear cropping, and so you will know what your looking at price wise , and if it is a good practice to do it. Best of luck . |

As for deleting posts, I don't think you can. You might pm admin and see if they will. |
Has this lady been reported? She sounds like one of those people who should NOT be a pet owner, imo. However, I would worry about one of my doberman's getting hurt by her dog while trying to keep him away, or worse chasing him back to her propery, leaving yours, and hurting her dog. She may bring a case against you for your dogs coming onto her property..Sounds crazy I know, but there are some crazies out there. Sounds like fighting fire with fire in this case could cause you more pain and heartache. |
Wanted to add your vet should be able to answer all your questions about ear cropping. |

I wish you all the best in your situation!:) |
I didn't think you could but it didn't hurt asking, thanks =) We have complained, the neighbors have complained, we live in the sticks. They have taken her dogs 2 times and she has gotten them back out. I feel bad for the little animals because they aren't fed adequately. She's big as a horse and doesn't feed them a thing. She said she feeds them "When they are hungry" These are large dogs, they must eat 2 times a day ATLEAST. I am with you ^^ Up there. She does NOT need to own these dogs. I wish we could do more, but they are at a stand still at this point because the dog high tailed before they got there and I couldn't catch him to put him in the pin. (he's aggressive with people!!) :( What if my sisters kids are outside and they jump on them!? I just dont understand people and how they think its okay. She IS however getting to repaint my car. Ha! That won't be cheap, considering it's breed. It is like playing with fire with her. |
I'd also definately call animal control about the neighbors allowing their dog to run loose. Husky's are not the most nicest breeds .... At least if not trained right . |

NO Offence to your brother, she didn't graduate because she was a single mom and a crack head. Your brother is fine she's not. |

Animal control came up here, saw all the tracks and where they dug up around the porch trying to get to the kitties. Some still in the trees. My car is tore all to pieces from where he jumped on it. That tore me up the worst because my cats/dogs were fine and my car suffered the damage. I paid a lot of money for it and this PERSON lets her dogs run loose. And they are not nice, at all! |

Don't think less of me because I have a former crack head living behind me, I am a really good person (Until you rub my fur the wrong way) lol! And I didn't call you rude earlier, I thought you were trying to be. So yeah, no war with us, please! =) |
Yes we filed a report, the state police came and pictured the car and all, and they will get back to us and our claims adjuster has to come. Oh it's the biggest mess, but she will definately be paying for it. |

I know that's right. If I could have chose my neighbors I'd have Jesus, Mary and Moses next door. Lol I am going to take a nap!! Thanks everyone for shining some light on my day! :) xoxo to everyone |
I am sorry this is happening to you. I, too, live in the sticks:rolleyes: and we do not even have an animal control in our county. Cops can only do so much and I don't think they take animal complaints to seriously unless someone gets hurt, and then its too late. It is hard to talk to people like this because they seem to never be on the same page, being a drug user only makes your situation worse. I am glad she is paying to your car and it looks like actually taking legal action may be your only choice. Although it may cost you some, you have to ask what is your safety worth. I still worry that bringing in other dogs may not work as planned. There is always the possibility of one of yours getting hurt...or worse.:( Edited to say: I am just seeing she is not *longer* a drug user. Wanted to clear that up. ;) |
We having said "FOR SURE" we are going to get one, we just miss having a big guy around because they never came up here when we had Zorro. They always saw him he'd bark they'd run. We are not 100% sure, cause honestly I am not ready. I just want her to get her dogs under control. We'd all be happy then. lol! |
haven't** Lol! |
What a terrible delema you are in. That would really tick me off as well if I had to spend the day trying to keep my pet's safe and my car from being torn up by someone's else's dog! What a nerve! Hope you can get it resolved. If she has to pay for your car, which she should, maybe then she will keep her dog behind the fence and tied when it's out. Sometimes when someone is hurt in their pocket book they think twice. Good luck, |
;) I understood ya! |
I had a horrible experience with a neighbors rotti once. They use to let her lose and run free. Well my dog Daisy was in her yard and the dog came running over and attacked her. I was out there when it happened but it happened out of no where she came at Daisy. If it wasn't for my Son and Daughter and the winter spikes I had on my shoes Daisy would of been killed. We rushed Daisy to the vet and 350.00 later an open wound that could not be sewn had to heal on its own and it took 3 months. Anyways they said that there dog was just trying to play and would not pay for the vet bills. I made a complaint to the dog warden and he said every time the dog is lose to call him so that he could document it. 3 weeks after the incident I was walking Daisy and the dog came again and tried to attack daisy but I picked her up in time and he was jumping up at me growling trying to get Daisy. I was screaming get your dog now!! He came out and said oh chill out she just wants to play with you dog. I think we should let them get to know eachother. I said are you an IDIOT I think my dog knows your dog by her 3 inch deep wound and doesn't like your dog. I continued to call the warden it took 3 months and eventually they had the choice to go to court or get rid of their dog bc come to find out they had 3 rotties and none of them had any vaccinations or was registered. They eventually got rid of their female that ran lose. To this day Daisy is afraid of big dogs. So call the warden every time the dog is lose and document it on your calender. good luck:rolleyes: |
