I would continue to contact the proper authorities for each incedant and keep your fingers crossed that there are no injuries. For the protection of your pets maybe you should look into a chainlink fence. It's really unfortunate that an injury needs to take place before the authorities act. Just worry about keeping your pets safe. |

wow all the horror stories it make me so sad im terrified of big dogs because Gatsby has decided he is bigger then them and he always tries to attack them i had to pay for a neighbors pit (sweet dog) that came into my yard because she was accidentally let out of her fence and could not get back in well Gatsby growled and she came closer he lept at her face and cut her nose and jowles i payed for the stiches even though she did not ask i guess in my area im the owner with the mean dog,but when we are out of our yard he is friendly to everyone and thear dogs |
I would not add another large, aggressive dog to the mix. That is a recipe for more trouble. I would put up a fence. |
I would not add another dog to this mix at this time. Unless you get one from a shelter, you are talking about a young dog, and either way the puppy loses. If he tries to protect himself, he could turn aggressive himself. (then you would be the neightbor with the aggressive dog) or worse case, his gets torn up by the neighbors dog. Neither situation would be good for the dog. I think the problem needs to be fixed with the neighbor. You can take legal action against her, But you do need it documented. I would send registered letters to her, animal control and the local police dept. Then with each infraction of her allowing the dog to roam. Document it on paper and by calling the animal control.. If you can find out who she has her homeowners insurance with, they will make her remove the animal or cancel her homeowners. Certain breeds are not allowed to be on the property due to risk factors. I don't recall as I type this what breed her is, but anything that the jaw locks when attacking is on the list. If may be enough when you have to take her to court over your car and this last attack on your cats. (I'm sure she won't pay you) however, you might get the assistance of the police in getting her homeowners information because you will probally have to go thru them for your car repair. If the dog was in anyway agressive towards you, I believe the law is on your side of having it removed from her home. Animal contol should take this over, it not I would go to court stating she is putting you in harms way. But the dog would have had to growl or act agressive toward a human. Good Luck and if all of this fails I would get a large speaker pointed toward her window and something like an air horn and I would sound it off, letting her know get your dog and it may run him off to. HAHA |
Hi there. I'd keep reporting your neighbour until something is done. She should not have animals who have killed other animals able to run lose at all. Sorry I don't know anything about ear clipping, but do they need it? Dobermans are beautiful dogs, but I would try to cure the problem of your unthinking and bad dog owner neighbour before getting them. Hugs Shirl x x |
Start building your court case now! Document, Document, Document! Get a camera and start taking pictures and videos. We lived out of city limits and did not have a leash law in the county. Our "neighbors" had 5 large huskeys that roamed at will. We had a small cocker mix and a fenced in back yard, so our dog was confined to the yard or house. Those 5 dogs ran around barking all night keeping me awake. I woke up one night with them on our front porch tearing up my DH's beautiful flowers. They tore up another neighbors porch furnature, another neighbor was afraid to let her children play outside. They were using our yard as their toilet. My DH was so mad I was afraid HE was the one that was going to do something to get arrested. We started calling the authorities to file complaints, so there would be official records. I took pictures of them pooping in my yard and pics of our destroyed flower beds, I took video of them barking at night, etc. We took them to court with all our documentation and the judge threw the book at them. They were certain that nothing could be done since we had no leash law in the country, but they were charged with disturbing the peace and distroying property. The judge made them put up a fence and contain their dogs. Any time their dogs ran loose they were charged a $600 fine. Thanks goodness were were able to move!! |

do you own a yorkie? why would you want two Dobermans anywhere near a yorkie? you are just asking for more trouble if you get Dobermans. You will have the neighbors dogs plus your own after your kitties & yorkie plus I don't think it will be easy to train 2 Dobermans if they are locked in a garage together or kept outside |
This will probably not go over well. You mentioned you live in a rural area. I do too. Ever considered shooting rock salt or a good bb gun. Luckly I don't have to deal with aggressive dogs on my rural block, I walk the 5 mile block during warm weather, but if there were aggressive dogs, I wouldn't think twice carrying my little 32. It's me or the "aggressor". Sometimes there's a positive about living in the country. If you would consider either of the two options above, I would warn the neighbor first. So that way it would hopefully make her think twice about letting her dog trespass. At least with shooting rock salt or bb gun it won't kill him hopefully scare the poo out of him. |
Sorry I havent been on lately. We have been really busy the passed couple days. I have 3 grandparents still living and I thorougly believe they live in the Dr.'s Office. They came and investigated her place for 3 days and they decided that she was not fit to have her dogs so they are now in the pound. I told them I didn't want the dogs put down, it isn't their fault. So they are going to try and find them a home out of the county. However, she has a BIG OLE BILL to pay for my car in the mail. Ehh makes me feel good. We have decided to not get another dog, we have 2 small ones that are enough of a pain in the neck! LOL. Thanks everyone for the advice ya'll are truly amazing people, i wish I could kiss you all! =) |
